Service C $250?
I just got a message on my dashboard that my Service C is due. I called the dealer and the whole thing consists of an oil change and a laundry list of "inspections". All that for $250 + tax - WTF? For an oil change? Anyway, just wanted to vent and ask if people have suggestions/feedback on this...
Thanks,
S

Saw you post on the other forum and provided some info. I missed the fact that you're from the Boston area. Did you buy your car from any of the Herb Chambers affiliates? Their service prices are high.

you're telling me, dealer wanted 265 tax included for service A. After reading the pamphlet provide by my local dealer, it's a standard brake check, oil and filter change, and a visual fluid check and refill if you are low on something. Oh yeah, the visual inpsection of the car is free.

Since I don't have my manual handy I thought I would ask...
If I were to head to an independant mechanic instead of MB, is there anything that could impact my warranty (sorry did a few searches and couldn't find the answer)? I'm a ways off from my next service but thought I would ask as I have seen this floated a few times. A co-worker got a quote for their C-Class and it was less than 1/3rd the dealer price. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to let them know if that work would impact their warranty.
Thanks.

Keep documentation... in case you need it.
Take it to the independent, its up to you. Remember that if something happens the dealer is a lot more likely to resolve the issue with you. For example, if someone didn't put oil back in the engine and blew it up.... stuff like that happens.
