ok i'm looking at 2003-2004 e320 and are they all CDI which is diesel ? or there are regular gas e320's too ? if there are both models which one is better ?
also what are comon problems with e320's ? is it a fairly trouble free car ?

also, is airmatic ONLY on e500's ? i heard it has alot of problems ?

To quickly answer your Q's, the CDI is only available 05+.
Airmatic has been plagued with problems but someone else more qualified than I should chime in as I don't have it in my car.

come on guys, while cdi has been available in the US since '05, I believe it was rolled out for the rest of the world in '03. How do you know where the poster is located?

ya i'm in canada... and on mercedes-benz.ca there's only e320 cdi, thats why im wondering

 

The CDI was not available for 03 or 04 and the 04 e320 has proven itself to be more reliable.

( ) 2003 e320 – Airmatic included in E3 Sport Package (standard on e500)
(x) 2004 e320 – Airmatic included in Appearance Package (standard on e500)

Common Airmatic problems for 03 & 04:
(1) Low ride height at one or more suspension points after the vehicle has been parked at cold temperatures – the affected air strut is replaced.
(2) Sporadic knocking / rumbling noise from front left of vehicle when driving over rough roads – the compressor bracket is replaced.

Mp3s:

As long as the vehicle has COMAND the dealer simply needs to update the software. That it to say for early production 03 the vehicles were equipped with a cassette player in the head unit and optional CD changer. I believe these vehicles cannot be modified however I’m not certain. For any later 03 and 04 vehicles equipped with a head unit that has a single CD (COMAND) rather than a cassette player it can be made to play mp3s by updating the software (will also modify the optional CD changer if so equipped).

Modifications:
(1) Premature wearing rear brake pads – replace rear pads (part # A004420 44 20).
(2) Squealing or grinding noise from the front brakes, even when the brakes are not applied – replace pressure retaining springs, piston damper, pads.
(3) Windshield wipers chattering / noisy – replace wiper blades and wiper arms need to be adjusted to windshield angle (tool W211 589 02 21 00).
(4) Poor sound quality in Harman/Kardon Logic 7 Surround Sound – replace Audio Gateway and update software.
(5) Steering wheel twitch (side to side during slow speed braking) – replace torque strut bushings (part # A211 333 11 14).
(6) AM Radio interference – remove wiring to left, front brake wear sensor (eliminated).

i'm just thinking, is it worth upgrading from 2001 330ci ?my car is pretty much tricked out right now, hrmmm
i mean to trade it in I will probably need to add extra 15-20g's, such a hard decision I got here... anyone upgraded from similar car ?
