E1 Package

My understanding is the E1 package consists of bi-xenon lights on both the low and high beams and headlight washers. At $1,150, this seems like a lot of money for what you get but I ordered it anyway in the hopes of improving my night vision. Is there something else included that I am not aware of or are these lights that expensive, or the mark-up that high?

well, they are not regular xenon...they are b-xenon....and i think if any bulb fails or breaks...there is a replacement that works....and with the bi-xenons, if you are driving late at night.....and there is a sharp turn, the lights will follow your steering wheel...for added safety

Yes that's right. My post said they were bi-xenon but that still seems like a lot of money. Just wondered if something else was included that I was aware of.

I don't think any of these lights follow your steering movements. That is something MB is working on but hasn't yet released. Bi-xenons are a very expensive option in all MB cars and the cost to replace a failed or burnt out bulb is also huge.

From the brochure: Automatic lamp subsitution uses a nearby lamp if a critical bulb fails. So that is a very good option....and about the steering thing..i thought it came with the e-class if you get the sport, or e1 package. 1150 is expensive....but there are a lot of ppl who have blue lights on thier car..like hyperblue, and that is illegal...hyper white i guess is alright...but blue is illegal.. so i guess making the bi-xenons were tough to make them legal...but im not sure

All 2003 E's use light bulb substitution if a critical bulb fails. It is standard and not related to bi-xenons.

Well ta thta price I hope the bulbs last a long time. I'm also going to try to get that 3M covering to protect the front of the cat and headlights from stones. Will the dealers install that clear plastic from 3M?

I don't know if you have Heishman or Stohlman selling MBs around Tyson's corner; and if they have subs on the premises. Suggest, you check w/your MB dealer.

Here in S. Florida, Autohaus MB has many subs that they recommend and those subs work right on the premises installing radar detectors, tints, and the clear armour for the front-of-car protection.
