I see that he has a good E-BAY rating, and some of you have heard back from him, but I'm starting to get nervous. Hopefully there will be a good explanation and the wheel will arrive soon.
He is probably busy with something else. He usually answers my emails right away. I emailed him about the wood/leather steering wheel yesterday and he emailed me back early this morning stating that it was shipped Monday and I should get it within 4-5 business days. I ordered mine last Monday the 21st. He is normally good in communicating back.

of course you can if you have paddle shifters on your stock wheel.

Recieved my wood/leather steering wheel from AGE Tuning today. I will post pictures as soon as I install it this weekend. Ordered it Monday, shipped Monday and recieved it today. That was one fast shipping. 2001CLK, thanks for the lead.

Talking

I also recieved my wood wheel today and promptly installed it. It looks great and feels great too, I think the leather section is a little softer than the factory wheel. I balked at the $800+ the dealer wanted for one when I bought the car and I'm very happy to have found this post, thanks 2001CLK. The installation went just as you outlined after I tracked down a thin T27 TORX bit. AGE Tuning got my wheel to me lightening fast from Europe at a reasonable cost.

Chance should be zero if you remove the negative battery connection.

Installed my wood/leather steering wheel today. THANKS 2001clk for the detailed instructions. Your step by step DIY made it a lot easier. Of course, I disconnected my battery (negative). The clock even reset by itself after I reconnected the battery. I believe it only took me about 40 minutes to do the whole process. The shade of the wood is a little darker than the rest of the burl walnut inside the car. However, it does not bother me. Would you agree 2001clk and highwater? Here is a picture after the install. The negative on the battery in the trunk gets disconnected. Did not loose any memory settings. The clock even reset by itself.

I have a question on the color of the wheel and how well it matches the interior. From looking at the eBay store it seems that the colors available are either black or gray. My interior is two-tone gray where my current wheel matches the upper gray tone. Does the gray of the new wheel match the upper gray as the previous one does?

The match of the gray is perfect. The wheel I got is OEM so the there was no doubt about color match.

my wheel is OEM also. The match of the charcoal color on mine is perfect as well. However, the burl walnut color on the wheel is slightly dark. It is not showing in the picture but in person it is.

just an FYI for people who are interested to buy the wood/leather steering wheel from Albert.....I paid $420.00 shipped for it which is a pretty darn good price for a NEW OEM steering wheel. Albert is very good in communicating back. He will surely have answers to your questions. Shipping is super fast considering it is coming from Europe....My wheel was shipped on a Monday and it was at my post office on the Thursday on the same week (3-4 days)....that was super fast. here is the link to his ebay store: http://stores.ebay.com/AGE-Tuning

Before I shell out the dollars for the wood wheel, are you all saying that the color is that different that it is bothersome with regards to matching the burlwood trim in the car?. I was hoping it all went together (being a stock MB part) just fine with the trim. Also , any other tricks of the trade that already haven't been covered ?

Thanks

the shade of the burl walnut wood on the steering wheel is slightly dark compared to the wood on the dash. take a closer look on the pictures posted on this thread...2001clk's interior (grey) and mine (charcoal interior).....it is not 100% the same shade. However, it is not bothering me at all and so does 2001clk, i assume. I should say not 100% match BUT close enough.

I ordered the wood wheel so it was installed on the assembly line. The wood on the wheel IS darker than the wood on the dash.

I believe it has to do with them using a "harder" wood on the steering wheel, to stand up to rings, watches and such, and it is not the same wood that is on the dash, although it looks like it.

Thank you for chiming in. So, this is normal. Like I said in my previous posts, the difference in shade is not bothering me at all. In addition, the charcoal color is a 100% match between the wheel and my interior. So to sum it all up, jocon63, go ahead and buy the wood/leather steering wheel.

I just checked his ebay store....there are 3 colors available for the w211........stone, grey and charcoal.
