Tire Pressure Monitoring system

Can anyone tell me if the tire pressure monitoring system is standard on the '06 211? I have a 2006 E500 and cannot tell if my vehicle is equiped with this feature. Was is standard or an option?
Thanks.

Tire Pressure Monitor System is an optional feature

Tire Pressure Loss Warner might be standard equipment on some US models (I don't know)

Hello Guys

Tire Pressure Loss Warner is standard in all new Mercedes, but it has to be coded in the CGW, (central gateway)

The 2007 brochure doesn't mention this at all, nor does the website. Where did you get this info? Are you in the USA?

TPMS Question

Is the tire pressure that is displayed in the center of the speedo always an up to the minute current tire pressure? Or is it a display of the tire pressure the last time the TPMS system was last activated? (Does "activate" really mean "Check my Tire pressure right now at this moment and display that reading on the dash until the next time I want to check/activate it".)

I do not think it is an all the time current reading or there would be no reason to "activate" it to know what your tire pressure currently is.

Tire Pressure Monitoring (TPC). Pressure and temperature values are sent from the wheel sensors (lithium battery in the sensor, battery life approximately 7 years) to 4 antennas in wheel housings using radio frequency. Antennas are connected directly to the TPC module. TPC module evaluates data and passes it in to the instrument cluster module (ICM) via CAN-B. ICM display informs / warns driver of sudden pressure loss, pressure too low, TPC failure, external interference, and low battery in sensor.

Activation clears old tire pressure specifications and stores new tire pressure values for each wheel – tires are rotated, winter tires are mounted, etc. Tire service, before mounting tire check date stamp on sensor and replace sensor if over 5 years old.

To answer your question, TPC constantly monitors tire pressure - normal transmission intervals measure once every 3 seconds, transmit once every 55 seconds.

So the tire pressure system is optional?

There are two systems: Tire Pressure Monitoring (TPC) and Low Pressure Warning System (LPW). Both monitor pressure and warn when pressure loss occurs however, TPC has the advantage to check pressure electronically in the MFD.

TPC was offered as an individual option up till 05 and discontinued in 06 and not in the 07 for the w211. However, LPW is standard on the 06 CLS, go figure.

in case anyone wants to know, the LPW system uses the current ABS sensors in the car and measures the rotational force differences between the wheels and warns if they are not even. It will not tell you how much the exact pressure is or which wheel is low but will give a warning in the IC showing that a tire is low.
