Add on Accessory you regret bolting on your w211

Guys I wanted to start a thread on Acc. you bolted on your W211 you regret.

For me the biggest regret is the chrome door handle covers. I got them because I have 2 kids and wife, and they all scratch the heck out of the door handle pocket, but after 1 year the chrome cover looks horrible and I rather had the finger nail scratch paint vs. the chrome covers. Plus the make they car look cheap. My bad.

Are they fastened in such a way that you can't remove them? Even if they are glued on, and removing them would leave messed-up paint, perhaps a body shop could repaint the area under the door handles? A repaint job in those areas wouldn't have to be perfect. Even if they are held on with screws, a body shop should be able to fill the holes and repaint ... just a thought.

I made the amatuer mistake of buying the ebay exhaust tips. Needless to say, they came off after a week and are now collecting dust in my garage.

If they're glued on, there's a good chance they can be removed with no damage to the paint. After they're removed, you can have the 3M clear plastic product installed (made by Armourfend and others). A detailing shop that installs the 3M would most likely be able to remove your chrome covers. Good luck.
