Perhaps good news for .9 owners..
I have the latest and greatest software upgrades for the 722.9 transmission installed in my car. These are brand spanking new.... also had an update for the control unit of my 272 engine. I can't give much of a review because it has only been one full day, but so far so good. Btw, my main problem was the 2-1 downshift. All of the other parts in my trans are up to date.

You wouldn’t, the dealer needs to check. Normally software updates are initiated through bulletins (i.e.: DTB) performed either upon request or at the hand of a conscientious tech, or by Service Campaign whereby if your vehicle falls within a specified VIN range it is checked and updated when in for regular maintenance or a needed repair. Either way, it would be free. Our esteemed poster fails to mention which applies.

Thanks Konigstiger you've been very helpful.

I don't know of any official DTB's or Campaigns.
I'm telling you this is the newest newest, newest.
It must be working because I don't remember noticing any shifting on the drive to or from work today!!! I was just driving, kinda like this.

Before we get too excited, can you do one test?
Drive it around to working temp. Make sure it is in "S" mode. Coast from about 15mph down. It should shift from second to first at about 5mph.
Does it shift at the same point as before?
Is the shift cluncky?
Just curious as I have no plans of getting a 7g anytime soon, but the wifey is itching for a new "S"

So how does one justify requesting new software other than complaining about harsh shifting and simply relying on dealership competency to update the software? Could you post the transmission & ECU software versions installed?

Does this hard shifting happen on all 7g's? So far I have no idea what you guys are talking about.. Maybe I dont notice it since anything shifts smoother than SMG on the M. I honestly love driving the E350 with 7G I think the transmission is great.

Picked my car up yesterday after getting the latest and greatest software for the 7G. My car has never, EVER shifted so smooth. Not a rough shift up or down through all 7 gears. I'll check my paperwork to see if it lists the software version and report back.
