Red face 2003 E500 sport

Saw a 2003 E500 sport at my dealer (sticker price $64k) but I'm in no hurry to trade in - the panoramic roof windows are nice but the body style is ho hum IMHO

I also was a bit disappointed with new body and interior style. However, I'm going to upgrade in 1-2 years.

E430 4matic
Hey Guys,

You sure it was a 2003 E500? I thought that wouldn't be released until sometime in 2003.

Regards,
HGT

I'd like to see a photo of the sport body. Are they still asking an absurd 4k for that option?

HGT, Just crawl out from a cave? Where have you been? Please read the W211 board. The 2003 E500 went on sale in August 2002.

RBrenton,

Yup I think it's still 4k for the Sport package. BTW the wheels are only 17" and look like they came off a Dodge Caravan. Looks like Daimler-Chrysler did a group purchase on these

the sport is only 1375 for the e500, and around 4 grand for the e320, because it comes with the air dc. also, there are multiple pics of the sport....you guys were in a cave huh?

E320 - 2003
I saw the E-500 Sport at a local dealership.

There are slight body trim modifications on the lower parts of the car. It's subtle, but nice. There's a small oval "sport" emblem on the front left and right panels (just forward of the door).

The rims are fine. Nothing you would look twice at, but still, sporty. Then again, the standard (US) rims are also very nice.

The speedometer is silver, not black, and the wood is basically dark black-ish.

Overall, it's not a dramatically different car. But, on the E-500, the pricing is such that you almost can't turn it down.

I don't agree about the pricing on a 500 sport. It really comes down to do you want the different rims, different guages, smaller tires, birdseye trim, and the different skirts that comes with the sports package. If not get the E1 package and even save a little money.

rayscar, are you sure that you know what the price of the Sport Package is for the E500? It is $1375. The sport package has smaller tires? The price of the Sport Package for the E500 (not E320) is a real unheard of unquestionable value. Hell the Xenon Lights alone is $1150 and you get all the rest for only $225. That is the price of 1 performance tire.

Are you confusing the E320 Sport Package price of $3800?

I'm confused. The Sport package on the 500 gets you the body mods PLUS the zenons?

That is a good deal.

Now what does the 320 sport package get you? air what? sure hope it's not air conditioning! but I wouldn't put it past MB to charge extra for A/C.

E55 Kev, that's what I'm saying. If you don't want or like the diffierent wheels, birdseye, etc. you better off getting E1 and saving a few hundred.
