How long does it take to get a car?
Since some of you lucky ones already have your new E, does anyone know about how long it takes to have a car built and delivered to the US. (I live in Seattle BTW and I think the car would arrive in a Southern California port).
My car's status changed to B3 which means 'no more option changes' about a week ago and was slated to go into production the 3rd decade of August - I presume they divide a month into three approx. 10 day decades.
I've heard the process takes about 10 weeks with most of that time spent in shipping but would appreciate hearing other's experiences.

i doubt it will come in socal....but it depends on how your dealer gets them....i ordered my car in feb...and we are getting it on oct....so thats 8 months...but by the time it is built( less than a week) it will take around a month to a month and a half...i am really sure they have a port near seattle...but i am not sure..but thats how long it takes.....but then....there is also the ordering time...like our order was in feb, but it didnt get built until 1.5 weeks ago....so it really depends...but when the car is built...it will be around a month to a month and a half

Ordering early in the year has little effect on when the car will arrive. I ordered in late August and may car is to be here in late October although I don't have a firm date yet from my dealer. I was told about a month for shipping and a couple of weeks from B3 to completion.

On another note, MB has three ports - Jaksonville, Baltimore and LA. So you are correct that your car will arrive in the southern CA port.

Thanks for the info.
For those of you quoting a process of several months, that is obviously because you PRE-ORDERED before they could even start making the car.
My question is really how long from starting production to my dealer's showroom to my garage. I'm responsible for those last few miles. Some Rayscar's info is most applicable to me.
bmms8 it sounds like you live in a place where MBs are popular. sometimes MB gives each dealer a set or minimum number of build slots which may or may not be based entirely on their sales volumes. So you could end up being in a high demand area and ordering way in advance but still being several months down that dealers list. Someone else, say could walk into the dealer where the Amish live (and I assume demand is light) today and get a build slot for next week. Kind of a strange and unpredictable system.

330sic - wow that is fast. Where do you live - my guess is either an area with low demand or a lot of dealers.
BTW there seems to be plenty of the new E's sitting on the dealer lots. I wonder if sales are slower than anticipated or if a lot of people just prefer to custom order.
