What's the official MB policy on free mainteneance?

I have 2003 E which was delivered on 11/18/2002. My free service expires 11/17/2006. My last free service was done 7/1/2005. The E is not my daily ride so the mileage is low. My car says the next service, G, is due for another 3500 miles. I know there is no way for me to drive that many miles before 11/17, unless I drive to CA! I called my dealer they told me it has to be around a 1000 miles before they can do it for free. I told them that my last service was 7/1/2005 about 16 months ago. They did not comment on that.
I vaguely recall the 1-years or 10,000 miles policy that MB has on free service. Can someone, who knows for certain of MB policy on free service, please comment on my situation. Many thanks in advance!

It''s one year or 10K miles, whichever comes first. I have an e-mail from my SA which says it's so. I've been getting yearly free service despite having only about 7.5K miles at the time. Go back to your dealer and tell him he's should do it. Also, BMW have gone to the same routine.

Here's what my SA said.

Sorry its taken so long to get back with you they will let us service the
car if its been 1 year since the last 1 was done or since the purchase date
of the car if its the first service. or 10,000 miles which ever comes first

Thanks Robert

My SA insited that they will only go by what the computer says. In my case, I still have 3500 miles to go.

Did you tell your SA that other dealers are doing it at one year and that you have a copy of an email from an SA from Phoenix Motor Company in Arizona stating what's true.

I don't know why your dealership wouldn't do it. They get paid for it. I've got plenty of paperwork showing what they charged MBUSA.

I will try another dealer in my area. My dealer has never been good in service. Thanks.

E 63S Wagon Renntech, E55 Renntech, SL65, SL 55 030, ML, bunch of old ones--they come, they go...
Don't count on this....

as the reason that the policies have tightened up is because the MB/DC audits of dealers have increased, and the service/warranty cleim kickback rate has escalated dramatically. In our area, I know of three dealers who each had warranty and service chagebacks over $100k. No matter what kind of BS the factory tells you, the service writers and service managers have much less discretion than they used to. And no, my BMW dealer won't let me come in now with 1000 miles to go either. Of course, it won't matter shortly, as the new models don't have prepaid service anyway.

Took the car to Ray Catena this morning

I took my car to Ray Catena, a huge MB dealer in Central Jersey, and they were only too happy to do the free service for me They mentioned about that over one year regardless of the miles, I would get the free service. The free service for me ends on Nov. 17. The freaking dealer, Millenium, where I bought the car, refused to do it for me even after I mentioned to them about the on year policy. I don't know what's the matter with them, after all, they get paid by MB
By the way, Ray Catena charges me only $445 to change both front and rear pads. I am a happy camper The only difference is that I don't get a loaner car because I did not buy the car there but that's not a big deal to me.
Hope my experience will help others with the free maintenance program who have rather low mileage.

Huh?? You are a paying customer and they didn't offer you a loaner? A new dealership just opened here that wasn't open yet when I got my car. It is much closer than where I got the car I started to take it to the new dealer. Every time they offer me a loaner no questions asked. Not offering a loaner is just
