Have you ever looked at the Volvo? I would classify this a pretty extreme..... A V8 all wheel drive sedan, that's one badass car. I say get the volvo as your DD

Like Talbot - I love my 340hp 6 speed AWD daily driver.
Since the OP has already tried it and not liked it - I'd like to propose something completely different. Since I park in a lot of different areas for work I'm considering something way more downscale.
Mazdaspeed 3. Small, light, 263hp in a very usable vehicle and one that I won't worry about as when parked. Doesn't look so "kiddy" as a WRX/STi or Evo.
Flame away, fellas.
The other car I would consider is waiting for the next gen M3 or picking up a new 335ci right now. Best looking Bangle car (faint praise, I know ) and pretty damned quick 6sp/rwd setup.

I am leaning towards the S80 simply because it offers a lovely V8 with AWD for around 50K and with all options roughly 60K or less with dealer haggling. However, all I really want is Nav, and premium sound.
I am also liking the styling, its subtle and doesnt scream look at me like the 5 series.

I think many know my stance on lexus here. Until they design something on their own and make something decently fun to drive, I wont buy one. The GS is extremely bland. The IS is way to small. I need at least a midsize car with 4 real doors.

the current crop of cars in that list are not very good.
The newest and flashiest car is probably the A5 coming early next year.
If you wait for the w212,..which comes out in 08 as an 09 model about two years more.
volvos are built with parts shared from Ford, that tells you off the bat just how reliable it will be.
BMW designs are horrible, and the e class is a 5 year old model. Its starting to show its age, as the newer designer are bigger, more sportier looking.
Why not consider a Cayman ? or the newly redesigned Infiniti G35 ?The Cayman is just a hoot to drive, and the infiniti is more expensive looking than the previous version interior.
peace

The G35 still looks like the old G35 that its supposed to replace. Never been a big fan of Infiniti, but will check it out.
I want a car that doesnt scream look at me. Thats what the CLS and E are for.

Having owned several Volvo's, I definately can't reccomend them. We have a 1998 V70 XC and it has been a disaster. It costs a fortune to maintain and really doesn't drive that well. It was the first year of AWD for Volvo, so that might have something to do with it. If you only keep your cars for a few years then the Volvo would probably be fine and I do think the new S80 looks good.

20+ to list......
For me, anything that has less than 8 cyls is not worth it, hahahaha. Back to the subject, I used to have a 02 Volvo V70T5 and a 06 BMW 530xi, both are good cars, but I would not recommend them. The interior for the new S80 is nice, but for what Volvo's charging, it can have more flavor when comes to designing it. The E60 bimmers are good, but again, when you are sitting inside and trying to get it a feel from it, it doesn't look to be a 50k car. Between the Acura & MB, I would vote the MB, not because I have quite a few of them sitting in my driveway/garages, but because the built quality is superior to the Acura. I would feel much safer in an MB than an Acura.

vovlo s40 is the same as platform derived from teh madza 3 which is the same derived for the FORD focus.I don't know if the s80 platform is shared , but the jaguar s-series is used in the Lincoln platform of its LS -series which sells for 30K fully equiped.
