03 E500 w/sport package blue tinted windows question
Hello everyone this is my first post but i have been reading your forums for a while now with the intent to buy an E-Class and finally bought a MBCPO 2003 E500 w/sport package. I love the car and is awesome to drive. My previous car was a 2000 CLK320, big step up to the V8 and i love the new power.
I know with the sport package on the e500 it comes with the blue tinted glass (PPG Solextra) but my windshield is not the ppg and it is the seikurat windshield. I've seen other E-classes with the sport package and have the ppg all around. I'm guessing the previous owner needed to replace the windshield and whoever replaced just put on the standard w/s.
Since the w/s is supposed to come with the solextra and the car being a CPO doesnt the car have to come with what was original on it? I'm not sure how MB is on CPO protocol but to me it's like buying a CPO car that lists "Harmon Kardon" stereo system and you get the standard.
I wouldnt complain if this car was bought from a used car lot, but i bought this car at a MB dealership and the car is MB certified pre-owned.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

BMW FTW
You are just going to have to ask... But if I recall right its illegal to have any tint or color on your front windshield(with the exception of a small strip at the top).

no the E class sport does not have a blue tint to the windshield. what you may be thinking of is the coating on the S and CL windshields...

E500
I have a 2003 E500 Sport. The windows (all of them) are in fact tinted blue.
That was part of the E3 Sport Package. I had the windshield replaced once by the MB dealer and the replacement was the same PPG Solextra.

Likewise, my '04 E320 sport (appearance package) is blue except the ws. BTW
I did notice that with the introduction of the 211, MB elimnated the tint strip along the top of the ws. I noticed it right away the first time I sat in one and thought that it had been replaced with an aftermarket ws.

Thanks guys for all your input, it seems everyone has different setups. I know for a fact that the 03-06 E500 sport package comes PPG Solextra all around including w/s. I went to a windshield and glass store that does all the work for a MB dealer nearby. They confirmed the PPG Solextra w/s by VIN number. He looked up my VIN and showed me the actual MB part number, and cross referenced and it showed PPG Solextra. There were other E-classes there and I saw the difference. All the w/s matched the other windows "blue tint" except for mine =(
The guy offered to replace my w/s to the OEM PPG Solextra for $550 no tax including the lower left corner white MB decal. I'm not sure if it's worth it or I should just let it go. My OCD can be annoying
Again thanks everyone for your input.
