Bluetooth cell phone addition

Bluetooth cell phone addition
I have a 2006 E500 and I'm looking for a hands-free cell phone solution. I know that my car is not already wired for the phone capabilities, and I've heard it costs over $1000 to add the wiring, then on top of that, another $350 for the Bluetooth module.
What are my options?
Also, I've already checked that mbenznl.com or whatever that is, and that will not work with my razr.
Thanks for you help in advance...

Get the Argos unit from www.eurocarphone.com
It's supposed to be available for our cars in the next couple of months but I've heard that before. It fully integrates the bluetooth phone of your choice into COMAND.
799.00 plug and play. Only one cable to connect in your trunk

Why didn't you just order the hands-free communication option in the first place? I think it would have cost less, plus it would be covered by your warranty. I might be mistaken, but I think things you add after the purchase are excluded from the original, or CPO warranty.

Plenty of reasons why he/she didn't opt for it...may have bought the car off the lot, or bought it used...doesn't matter...obviously he/she doesn't have it and is looking for a solution.

Pre-wiring cost for pre-2007 models is about the same, whether factory or dealer installed.

I think factory wiring is a better option, and yes, it is too late for that in this situation. If you read several of the posts on here, you will discover that there is a lot of variance from dealer-to-dealer as to the quality (read competance and cost) of any of the dealer-installed options.

Motorola IHF1000 Bluetooth kit
I realize that many people on this forum frown upon aftermarket kits because they cannot be fully integrated with COMAND and the steering controls. But, the IHF1000 really is a cost effective solution. It works great with my Razr too. Available on eBay for about $150.
Here are a few links that describe my installation.
Speaker install behind A/C grille.

Control module on ashtray cover. No wires showing.

Microphone on rain sensor cover. No wires showing.

I also was able to tap into the audio mute circuit by I can't seem to find the post right now.

The Argos unit DOES fully integrate into COMAND. You'll be able to use your steering wheel buttons with it and it's 799.99

I really don't like the tone of your communications so far. I almost said that earlier, but held my breath (so to speak).
If you'd like to argue with me (about anything), and so we are in the best interest of this thread/forum, I suggest that you use PMs if you must continue your antagonistic diatribe.

The Argos unit is not available for my 2005 E500. I will probably have a 100K miles on the car before it's readily available. However, I would probably consider the Argos unit if I did another aftermarket install despite it's relatively high price.

The price that you gave us is certainly reasonable. I'm glad that you are satisfied with your solution. BTW, I have a Razr too (just upgraded an LG to that with Cingular), and it seems to be a nice cellular telephone.
