Service D on the E320 CDI (2005-6)

Hey guys, has anyone done a service D on their CDI yet? I'm hoping you can share what they did, and how much it cost you?

I'll also post this question on the diesel forum just incase.

Been searching for a full-time flying job as I've gotten the itch to return to the air. Most of my time spent on-line was searching and networking. Just landed a job with Gemini Air Cargo.

Congrats with the career change, or return to an old career or whatever it is. It's great to do what you love! What are you flying now? How much time away from home do you have to spend? Enjoy the new job.

Well the D service is basically the computer telling you that your car needs service. It could be various things... My car needed brake fluid, cabin filter change and engine oil change. $372

A bit of disclosure here.. Mine is calling for a D service in 9800 more miles.. I've already done an elective break fluid, trans flush, rear-diff, engine oil (3 times since new), and radiator flush at 13000... I'm now at 17500.. so I'm wondering how this works.. is the car REALLY analyzing the fluids and predicting I'll need some of these done, or is it on a time interval?

From the way that my dealer explained it yes the car is monitoring fluids and when they need to be repleished and changed. I had a ton of questions about this service. He scrolled through the dash message screen and some codes popped up and that how they knew what need to be done. Your service could need other things, who knows I give up trying to figure out all this tech stuff works, It just keeps getting more advanced.

First and foremost, best of luck with the new employment. Next, are you satisfied with the bodywork? How about DV, any progress? Lastly, simply check the MFD and it will tell you what is needed and you can go from there: https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w211/92554-service-e-class-211-usa.html (post #1).

That sounds similar to the 'A' service I just did at 13K. Shop around if you have several dealer options...the nearby dealer that sold me the car wanted $380, and another dealer 20 minutes away was $188 with a coupon from their website (though the regular price was only $220).

Cheap! My dealer wants $600 for brake fluid, cabin filter, oil change, and general inspection for a similar year E class!

My favorite aircraft. Used to work on its guidant software. I think the entire Gemini fleet is MD11/DC10, correct ?

Too bad Boeing killed it.

From my office view, every morning, there's long row of MD-11 parking at FedEx terminal.

Yes, 4 MD-11's and 6 DC-10's which they are retiring as fast as they can replace them with either 11's or some new type which could be 777F, 767F, or 744's.. depending on what works out best in terms of availability and finances for 2007-8.

I bet if Boeing fired up the MD-11 line again, they'd be back ordered for a decade from the freight operators in Asia alone.
