child protector locks

i can't seem to find the child protector locks for the rear door. typically there is a switch that is clearly labled on the door. could find nothing in the manual.
this car has to have this as all cars do.
help.

I'm pretty sure we don't have them. but the doors auto-lock at 9 MPH and can't be opened by rear seat passengers unless they pull up the door plungers or you unlock them electrically. Since the kids will never see you pull the locks up manually, its doubtfull that they will even notice them or know what they're for, so they won't pull on them... so the doors will remain locked.

I have a 07 E.I Called MB with the same question. They have no safety locks. The women told me MB believes children are restrained in the car with seatbelts and car seats so there is no need for these safety locks. I thought her answer seemed strange but thats what she said.

unfortunately my 3 year old (grabby gus) did not read the manual. He pulled the door latch open while we were driving 70mph down the highway. my wife totally feaked.
yeah, MB he was restrained in his child seat but WTF. Typical BS from mercedes. My wife would have nix the car if she knew no child locks were present.
i mean really how much would it cost MB to have this, every POS car has this in place. even BMW's have it.
its a bummer because I got the car for my wife, now she does not want to drive it. so its back to the landcruiser ( with safety locks) when the little guy is in the car.

I dont think I've ever seen a child lock on an MB (at least the models I know of). Don't know why MB doesn't them in...they're all for safety I know but not putting in something so simple that is a safety feature for small kids?

Forget that! Where's the US DOT on this issue. They're so concerned about removing the trunk-lock mechanism, or having amber side-markers, but they're not worried about child-locks!

Where's the sense in that?

Why not remove the USA "Golf Tee" style door lock buttons on the rear doors & replace them with the shorter European, non flared, dome top door lock pulls which, when the door is locked electrically, will go down so far... virtually flush into the door that they have no surface area sticking out from the door with which to grab them by to pull them up. (Maybe THAT's why MB doesn't have Child Lock switches in the door sides... the car was designed with inoperable lock pulls for their home market, but the US DOT or MBUSA makes them put the Golf Tee easy grip pulls on for the US market.) Just a thought... & it's a workaround way that might solve your problem.

Does US DOT require them to put the golf tee style grips? My parents '01 S500 has "block" style door lock pins that go down when the door is locked, almost impossible to pull up by hand...couldn't imagine a child pulling up those locks. True it is a work around to put the pins that sit flush when locked but consumers shouldn't have to do that to get some sort of "child safety" in the rear seats so kids don't open the doors when moving. Just my thought.

But since MB "has" to put those golf style tee pins in, why don't they put in child locks then? Its not that hard to install them if almost every other car maker has them standard on their vehicles.

fwiw, my car has no door lock pins at all. The rear does not open with the doors are locked, like MB, but still has child locks.

And yet, other MB markets do have standard child proof locks for the rear doors.

what would happen to the rear passengers if an accident happened and they couldn't pull up the flush mounted door lock pins to exit the car?
