Do the non MB version of the motorola V600 works with the cradle
Hi guys!
I'm looking for the most cost effective solution to integrate my parents cellphone to the e-class
Looking at the wireless4mb website, the MB version V600 cost a hefty $525. While in ebay, a generic V600 cost less than $100. I am wondering if the generic version will work with the V600 MHI cradle. Anybody tried this set-up before??
The generic V600 cost around $100 including tax and shipping
The V600 MHI cradle $220 from wireless4mb.com website
so total cost will be around $320, and that's a pretty good deal
I was looking at the V3 RAZR before but the phone itself cost around $150, and the MHI cradle cost a hefty $400, almost double the V600 cradle. So to go with the V3 will cost around $550.
Also any of u guys know a particular software version of the V600 that will work with MB's MHI cradle system?
Any help will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Out Of Control!!
I would say, in a word, no. I have an MB V600 in my car and a generic V600 that I carry. The generic phone does not have the connectors on the backside of the phone, nor does it have the required software. Another complication would be the model year. It is my understanding that MB changed phones around 2004 from digital to GSM. You should check with the dealer to see which one you need and then search eBay if you don't want to buy it from the dealer. also, I think the car will have to have the phone system in the car in addition to the cradle. In my car, I ordered the hands free phone option and still had to buy the cradle and phone. I would not want to be without them. They work extremely well.
You might try to find an aftermarket Bluetooth module if you want the cheapest option. That should cost less than the MB setup.

Yup. Its the special software in the MB version phones that tells the phone HOW to interface with the COMAND unit & upload/synch the phonebooks. Non MB versions of the same phones don't need and therefore don't have this special software. Dealers typically sell these phones for List Price & Wireless4MB sells only at list so as not to compete with its customers (the dealer). Negotiate with the parts guy for a better proce or look on line at eBay for people selling new MB phones. They are available for less there, but its "Buyer beware".
