Aiming the xenon headlamps

Is there specific guidance out there regarding how high and how far apart the beam spread should be for the EW11? My dealer cannot seem to get my aim corrected properly, and both lights are too high. People flash their brights at me thinking I've got high-beams on as the pass my by on the roads. Very frustrating.

Any guidance you guys may have would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I thought that the Xenon lights in all factory installed Mercedes were self leveling. (That is why the point up then down when you first turn them on.)

Wierd. Seems to an issue with either the computer or the leveling sensor within the lights themselves.

They do auto level as you mention, but there is also a manual adjustment. My car was in a front-end accident and they did not align the headlamps properly during repairs. At first, the left light was was lower than the right, now both lights are even but both are aimed too high.

some people just have sensitive eyes... and other times its unlevel pavement when they just happen to line up in a bright spot of my headlight, my response to them flashing is me flashing them to realize my high beams are blinding

A particularly funny time an Audi A6 was travelling down a road near my home in the opposite direction and he thought my headlights were too bright see he flicked his highbeams and left them on intentionally, I returned the favor. Well I guess I won the my lights are brighter then you battle because he started swirving to drive off the road in to a yard...I shut them off after I realized he was gonna drive in to a tree and luckily he corrected and shut his High beams off

left light is suppose to be lower then the right... to keep the light out of drivers eyes on the other side of the road... if they havent been touched by a human, xenons with projector housings will shine lower on the drivers headlamp from the factory

Yes exactly. If you aim your lights at the wall the driver side should be A LOT lower then the passenger side. If you are a few feet away from a wall the left side should be a couple of feet lower.

hey guys...you've mentioned the dissimilar aiming between left and right.
the examples I've seen as a result of Google always show same horizontal
distance from the ground-to-centerline for both left and right. if you have
example or link to aiming technique you've described above, can you post?
tnx!

It is kinda' like this but much more so as this is for halogens.

http://www.danielsternlighting.com/images/Beam_aim.jpg

Info I found (I had no idea that Xenon's must come with the lens cleaning feature):

European vehicles equipped with HID headlamps are required by ECE regulation 48 also to be equipped with headlamp lens cleaning systems and automatic beam levelling control. Both of these measures are intended to reduce the tendency for high-output headlamps to cause high levels of glare to other road users.

nah, that's just standard cutoff you're showing. perhaps that is what you
mean by driver side beam being much lower, que? but that rise to the right
has nothing to do with aiming; that's simply the rise which is part of the cutoff
shield or lens beveling.

i noted you changed the linked IMG but the centerpoint remains the same:
the _|_ intersection should be directly in front of the headlight's centerpoint
and a scootch lower at 25'....for both headlights.

i thought that you guys are citing a industry standard for aiming of HID lights.

sample of properly adjusted HID beam
