It's completely absurd not to have this feature in a luxury car. The last luxury car or SUV I had without this feature was over 10 years ago.
What a bizarre decision to remove it.

Are there production dates that will or won't have it? Any official position or declaration from MB. Still holding out hope that our new E will have it. Thx

I cannot seem to set this up and I am not sure if this car has it. I dont have this feature displayed under the convienence menu on the instrument cluster. I followed the steps in the owners manuel and still cannot get the right exterior mirror to go down when I put the car in reverse. I am still confused as to whether or not the 07 e350 has parking aid? I know the 06 has it....
For those who already took delivery do not rely on the MBUSA Customer Assistance center CAC, sales person, or SA explanation for not having the feature. Request to have a face to face with the Shop Foreman and “suggest” activation via Star. Mention the feature is printed in your manual. If refused, and there are other dealers in your area visit each until activated.
Got that Barry?

My 07 doesn't have it, but I don't miss it either. I was parallel parking yesterday and thinking about this thread, but don't understand the difficulty. The body on the 211 is flat and straight so it's kind of easy to know where the wheel is.
Further, I tilted the mirror down to see how helpful it would be IF I had the feature, and with the new mirror design on the 211 I wouldn't have been able to see the wheel anyway (like on our C230 for example).

I tried it again after my previous post here, I tilted the mirror and can only see the wheelwell curve, but no tire. Just for comparison I pulled out the C230 and was staring at the wheel in the mirror. Maybe my seating position has something to do with it, but that doesn't justify a drastic difference between the C230 and E350 though

Damm. At first, when I read it, I thought it said feelers.
You adjust it while your passenger button is depress and you are in reverse position. Thereafter when you return to any position other than R the mirror should return to your preset driving position. Keep the passenger button depressed for this to work.

Conclusion, Parking Assist can be reactivated by dealers. Some dealers activate it free (i.e.: upon taking delivery or shortly thereafter, loyal customer, etc.), others may charge (up to $150), and still others will refuse claiming it cannot be activated.

OLD thread but figured I'd update since this feature was bothering me that it wasn't anywhere on the car.
We have 09' e350. Our 05' CLK had this feature and I wondered why the hell a newer MB wouldn't.
I even clicked over the passenger mirror switch and put it in reverse and it did not do anything.
Started looking in STAR/DAS and did in fact find where this feature is located.
It's under instrument cluster, then special features. Go to the option and activate it. It will reset the cluster and then you will have the menu to either switch it on or off from the steering wheel.
As soon as I turned it on, and then clicked the mirror button to the passenger side, put the car in reverse and now the passenger mirror tilts down and away. It can be adjusted to any spot that you like.
Put it in drive and click the driver mirror button and it goes back up.
Hope that helps. Attached two pictures I just took.

Thank you for posting the STAR procedures for activating the Reverse-Mirror option. I'll follow your instructions and will determine whether they work on our '07 W211 and '07 R230.

My 2008 E350 (August 08 build) has the tilt-down passenger side mirror. Interestingly, the feature works even though there's no option in the instrument cluster for it. I followed the instructions to set the parking position for the mirror and it works as long as the passenger side adjuster switch is pressed.
Even if you don't have the option in the cluster, it may be worth trying. I don't recall the procedure off hand, but it had something to do with adjusting the mirror to the desired position with the car in reverse and pressing the memory button.
My car is Canadian spec, so it may be different from the US models. I believe the Canadian spec cars are more similar to the Euro model, we get some extra features not available in the US (Rest, heated rear seats...)

I can't tell you how many times I did that and it still didn't work. I was so frustrated and annoyed. Same deal with the home link on the mirror. Tried for a solid hour and read on here how easy it was to setup. I had to call homelink and within a minute they knew that the system in the car was older than the system being used by my Liftmasters. I had to buy some Homelink repeater for only $23 (then it took 30 seconds to program the car and it works great!). But I could never get the passenger mirror to go down for some reason..
Then playing around with STAR/DAS I saw that and the fold in mirror option (Would love to have that BTW, but not spending close to $1k just for the parts) and saw the park assist. As soon as I coded it and enabled it on the screen it worked on the car...go figure.
I've read that the memory feature works on some and doesn't on others. Seems like there is zero rhyme or reason as to why some w211's work using the manual's instructions and some don't.
