Does the 07 E350 have parking aid?????

I cannot seem to set this up and I am not sure if this car has it. I dont have this feature displayed under the convienence menu on the instrument cluster. I followed the steps in the owners manuel and still cannot get the right exterior mirror to go down when I put the car in reverse. I am still confused as to whether or not the 07 e350 has parking aid? I know the 06 has it....

If it's in your manual and it's not shown as an optional feature, did you put the left/right mirror adjustment switch in the "right" position? The tilt-down feature on my '03 doesn't work unless the switch is in the position to adjust the right mirror.

On the mirror adjustment buttons on the door, make sure the "passenger" mirror button in pushed in. (The button closest to the door hinge.)

My 12/04/06 production E550 does not have the setting option in the dashboard display. It also will not tilt with the passenger side mirror selected. The dealer informed me that this feature has been removed from current productions.

The feature is listed in the MBUSA web site descriptions of 2003-2005 E500 "Exterior Features" ("Parking-assist right-side mirror can be programmed to tilt down upon shifting to Reverse."), but is absent from the description of the 2006 E500 and 2007 E550. Looks like parking-assist went bye-bye to Decontenting Land after model year 2005.

I'm just reporting what's on the MBUSA web site. I'm also assuming that they would continue to advertise features they have and stop advertising features they no longer have. It's also possible that MBUSA decided after MY 2005 that the "parking-assist" feature was so commonplace that it wasn't worth mentioning any more. If your car has a feature no longer advertised by MBUSA, congratulations.

I figured out something interesting about the "park asssit".. You can adjust where it points to when you are backing up, and then everytime you backup it moves back to the same position.

I'm wondering if when you (or someone else) was backing up that they adjusted the mirror back to a normal position so that the park assist didn't seem to adjust. So next time you are backing up (and the passenger mirror is selected) adjust the mirror downwards and see if it will return to that position after backing up a second time.

Give it a shot and see what happens, it couldn't hurt.

BTW - My August Built 2007 E550 definately has it. Merc did not delete this option for the 07 model.

Page 175 of the '07 manual says:

Setting parking position for exterior rear
view mirror

Depending on production date, your vehicle
may not be equipped with this function.

What possible reason could they have for deleting the parking-assist after 4 1/2 years of W211 production? It's a software function that requires no additional hardware, correct? Some decontenting in past years would have saved ridiculously small amounts per unit - like removing the glove box shelf - but I can't see how they are saving any money on this one.

Once again... in my '04... there were many times that my mirror would not go 100% back to its memory set position. I had to tap the Driver 1 Memory switch to fully return it to the driving rearview (fully up) position. Maybe too many complaints led to its deletion. I tend to think that with the '07s the goal was to make a car that people don't complain about at all, and whatever wasn't 100% dependable was removed to get better owner ratings.

I think the '07s decontenting was done from a "no complaints" point of view, rather than a cheapskate point of view. They HAD to reverse the "in the cellar ratings" perception. Yes, its decontenting, but Oh those endless trips to the service department were such a pain in the a$$ -no matter how nice the service department people were, it robbed me of that "I drive the best designed, safest, mass produced car in the world".

My best guess is that they had to pay 3 warranty claims for worn-out mirror motors in the past 4 1/2 years, and this was a DCX "quality improvement" move. If is isn't somehthing that breaks, then the quality must be better.... er, right?

Any way to tell whether a car will have it? Ours is scheduled for production on 1/19. I have it on my ML500 and find it quite nice. Thanks

Hi guys, I'm over from the W219 forum (CLS550 USA) an E-class based car. My 9/06 car does not have the tilt down. Another with a 7/06 production date does. Evidently it was dropped about that time. The jury is still out as to whether Star Diagnosis can re-activate. I have already written a complaint letter to Mercedes.

I am glad I have an 04. Features like REST, parking reverse mirror, puddle lights, passenger lumbar support adjustment, split middle console, ashtray mat, glove box divider, easy exit features, independent charcoal filter, leather strap on the back armrest, SBC, etc, etc, etc. These features would be missed if they all of sudden weren't there.

I really hope that by the time I buy my next Benz these features are back.. I am not knocking anyone with a newer car at all.

Decontenting things like this just makes the car like all the other cars. The engineering is why I bought the car.

Apparently MBUSA pulled this feature from all 2007 models except for the S-Class. I have owned 2 MBs with this feature and the thought of owning one without is completely terrifying. This feature is a must for me; I parallel park in Manhattan everyday! I suppose if enough people start to complain, MBUSA might "undo" what they "undid."

That sucks! I'm really disappointed. Helps from the inevitable tire/rim scuff when parking in those end spaces.

I'm over from the CLS forum, reporting I received a call from Mercedes USA in response to my nasty-gram about the missing tilt-down feature and she advised that Star Diagnosis will NOT be able to activate the tilt-mirror. She said they took out some hardware and it was a decision made in Germany. She would pass on my displeasure. May I suggest we all write letters:

Tilt Mirror Parking Aid

Tilt Mirror Parking Aid. To make it easier to park, the exterior mirror on the front-passenger side moves into the parking position as soon as you engage reverse gear. This Feature has been removed!

We need to let them know that we are dissatisfied. Why bother? Because I went through this when Stuttgart (not MBUSA) removed the ability to scan preset radio stations on the 211 & 219. Granted Stuttgart or MBUSA would not foot the bill to retrofit 03 through 06 models as they said it was not feasible but a new IC was designed for 07 and it is back. Unfortunately SIRIUS satellite presets cannot be scanned …yet!

FYI: Although the preset/frequency menu choice can be programmed via STAR in the 03 through 06 IC/MFD choosing the preset option renders only frequency scan ability.

https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w211/125729-scanning-radio-presets-how-important.html

It is imperative that we coordinate our conversation and effort(s) in order to accomplish this.
