My First E320

I purchased an 03 E320 but don't have the manuals as yet, will be getting it this week.
My question:
How do I open the fuel tank for refueling?

When the car is unlocked you push in on the forward edge of the filler door. It pivots & will open the rear edge of the door. There is no other release mechanism. When the car is locked so is the gas door.

Welcome to the world of Mercedes Benz Ownership. The answer to your questions is quite simple; if you driver’s door lock is unlocked, then the fuel door is unlocked. The fuel door is a slave to the position of the driver’s door. So all you have to do is make sure your door is unlocked and then push the front part of the fuel fill door so that the rear part opens. Once the fuel door is open the cap is not locked.

The dealer should have told you this! There are tons of little common-sense features that need to be explained to new MB owners! Otherwise you might get frustrated with the car even though there is nothing wrong with the car itself.

Have fun finding all the other little things like this!

Until you receive your manuals you can reference “basic” info here.

Regarding the dealer, I don't really expect anyhting good from them.
They did not even clean the car from inside when delivering.

Another thing that I wanted to ask is:

When I turn on my headlights the fog lamps do not turn on.
Does that mean the there is somehting wrong with the fog lamps or is there some other button ot turn on the fog lamps.

I have set the headlights to "Auto".

Thanks.

Fog lamps can only be turned on manually by turning the knob to the fog lamp position and pull knob out at the same time (just a knotch). Hope this helps.

Fog lamps work in either park or headlight position.

One notch out is front foglamps

Two notches out is front PLUS rear foglight.

ONLY EVER use rear fog light in fog/rain/snow.

Same should apply to fronts as well, but ...

I could not stress this more! It is incredibly annoying to drive behind an Audi or Mercedes driver who leaves their rear fog light on. In Europe you are only supposed to turn on the rear fog if visibility is bellow 50 meters and this means that you can not safely drive faster than 50 Km/hr (about 35 MPH).

So the rule is that if driving conditions are making you drive at 35 or slower, then you can turn the rear on.

Your next question might by if the passenger side fog light is burned out, no it is not, the rear fog is only on the driver's side so that it is not confused with brake lights.
