Droping E500

Is there a drop kit for the new E500 that will work with the airmatic suspension with 20" chrome wheels.

I'm in the wheel business for 10 years now.
If your car has airmatic when you drop the car it will look fantastic
with the 20 inchers. You dont need anything else.

Yes, of course if you run low profile tires there is a big chance that you can cut them off if you dont take good care of it.
But on the other subject of blowing a tire not, you will be in good shape, don't worry.

In my case my car will sit on:
19x8.5 245/35/19 S03
19x10 285/30/19 S03

My car is Avantgarde with AMG package.

What is the difference in ride between 19 and 20 inch? I should be getting my E500 any day now and I am not sure if I should get 20's or not. Also I heard that 20's will not fit in the front due to the airmatic suspension. If anyone has more info on this subject please reply.

Okay, this subject has been discussed long ago. The final outcome was, if you have the airmatic suspension, you cannot go with 20" wheels. The tires available in the US for a 20" set up would be 245/35 and 275/30, which are about an inch larger in diameter than the standard tire size of 25.7 inches. This way it will rub on the control arm of the airmatic suspension compenent, inside the wheel well.

Besides even JL88 went with 20" and the above mentioned tire sizes and said they were not comfortable at all. I read on the brabus site that 20"wheels can be fit only on the rear of the W211, with 255/30 tires which are not available in the states.

As for lowering, there are electronic control modules that lower you car just a bit, around 20-25mm i believe. Rbtech makes a kit along with the wheel supply, which are actual parts installed in the Airmatic suspension system and you can pretty much vary your ride height to whatever you want.

19's are the way to go unless you have a 320 w/o Airmatic, and pretty much only drive your car to shows and back, well then 20's will be great.

As mentioned by Tezta...RBTech has a lowering kit for the Airmatic suspension that has an adjustable range from 1.2 to 2 inches. The cost of the kit for the new SL is approx. $395 ...you should contact Ralph @RBTech for further details (213) 747.5800

Richard

THe LD-1's are 20's but they are on an E240 without Airmatic. I think the BBS are 19's.

It is for looks only, but this car is not owned by any rapper.

yea, they look very nice, and plus, they buy mbz's, so it is good for them too. And a lot of people buy mbz's to modify them. Rims are just for looks, but they do give you ideas

Ya. A Mercedes-Benz car should have professional look IMO.

These are the kind of comments that people can make that can make the speaker look like a closed minded bigot.
However that is your opinion and are thus entitled to it.
Just for your info, "stupid rappers" arent the only ones that like that look even though i personally like the clean lines of AMG wheels.

Dude. I'm not saying that I don't like mods for MB cars but I'm saying that it should look clean. AMG mono-blocks are very clean. These would probably be the only kind of wheels I would put on a Benz.

anyone that has paid for their car has the right to do whatever they like to their car. There are no guidelines as to what car should look like. Each person deserves to have what they want if they have earned it. If someone is paying for a MB, they deserve to do whatever they want that pleases them, not you.

I understand that it is only your opinion, but when you say "should look clean" it sounds like you are reciting the "Rules of owning a MB"

Yes, it is my opinion and im entitled to it. I strongly believe that a MB should be a professional looking car not a "bling" type car. If you want bling, so buy yourself a Escalade and put 24's on it.
