I have a 03 E with a Euro COMAND and Navigation, thinking of having the system version coded so that I get navi prompts on the MFD.

I am afraid that the new version coding will block access to the DVD and/or engineering mode & backdoor. I have read that the newer Euro units are not allowing access to the engineering menu and cannot be modified for now.

My VERY SPECIFIC question is: anybody with the Euro unit had it version coded for the MFD prompt without loosing the capability of accessing the eng. menu?

Did the flash give you Navi prompts on the MFD and retained the Engineering menu? If so, do you have the procedure or name of what they have to do at the dealer so they don't screw it up?

I flashed it with the original service CD.It gave me all the options and menues what the comand came with...similar to reinstalling Windows on your PC.

Hmmm, sorry for being so dense, but does the flash give you the capability of the navi prompts on the MFD, or you can use it to bring back COMAND to its original condition (no Navi/MFD & Eng menu access) in case the version code update screws up access to the Eng menu?

Where do you get a hold of the flash CD?

And if Steve is around here, could you PM me a quote?

The navi prompt on the MFD had to be activated by the STAR and once it is on, i dont think it will disappear after the flashing...atleast didn't on mine.
The Eng mode is also accessible after flashing.
I got the CD from England for $30 or so.
Hope this will help.

Hmm... interesting! I wonder if you are able to "copy" the CD to your hard drive, upload it to a share site and us to download it and burn a copy.

I am able to but i think anyone who really needs it wouldn't oppose to a little cost equalization....

Man, I'm slow this week. What do you use the re-flash for? What would the use be now and after the version coding with STAR?

I meant if this happens to your the comand....which i dont think will.
As far as i know the version coding happens out of the comand.
The reason i had to flash mine 'cause i got into the eng mode/backdoor menu and pushed 1 too many button
