'03 E320 SRS light Seat Belt behavior
Can anyone validate the behavior of th SRS light below the radio.
Upon car start my light comes on for a couple of seconds, then goes out. It says that way independent of passenger. Doesn't matter if someone is seated in the passenger seat or not.
I thought there is a sensor in the seat, and if nothing is in the seat, the light will be ON (saying SRS is OFF). And if someone (or something heavy) sits in the seat, the light will go OFF.
How does your light operate? Specifically in the '03
Thanks
John

you are correct as to how you think it is supposed to work. Are you also having the seat belt warning light come on with nobody in the seat and your seat belt buckled?

No, just the opposite, light always stays out. (except for initial car start).
My local MB shop is telling me "thats how it works". They quoted a page 68 in my 2003 manual.
Can someone with `03 verify?

WSS was not introduced until the 2004 model year I am pretty sure... which would be the weight sensing system with four weight sensors, one at each corner of the seat frame. That is the one that requires calibration for weight measurement.
I'm fairly certain that the 2003 has the seat occupied recognition sensor, totally different.
You're in Jacksonville? Just take a trip over to the education center and ask the intructors!!! It's at the VPC, right next to the QEC.... acronyms.
