New Guy Questions
Hello all im new here and ive got an w211 e500 2004 model. I was wondering what advice you guys could give me on extended warranties and im also wondering if you guys know what would be done/needed if i switch my mufflers for a amg quad exhaust system thanks!

Its big and Grey!
I bought it when i had like 10k miles. I got the 5/100k, with the $2XX deductable. The package i got was everything less the navigation and some other elecrical part I cant remember at the moment.

Extended Warranty
I was wondering if anyone that has an extended warranty with Warranty Direct has ever made use of their policy? I ask because I asked my SA at my MB dealer about Warranty Direct and they warned me against the purchase of same. Warranty Direct has been emailing me with different offers
and discounts.....some sound good. I am always reluctant to buy an extended warranty of any type. I know any one of the major repairs at the dealer will cost a fortune, however the cost of the warranty should exceed that of the repair. I think the cost of the warranty will equal the cost of two major repairs on my 2005 E5004matic.....or am i just rationalizing. All said and done, I'll probably purchase an extended warranty when my new car warranty is close to running out.

An extended warranty is a wager between you and the warranty issuer. You are betting you WILL need repairs during the time you hold onto the car that costs at least as much as the warranty does. If that occurs, then the warranty company only made money on the interest they earned by investing your fees to them elsewhere. If you didn't need them to pay out, then they made money on the purchase price too, since their only expense was a website & the cost of the paper they mailed you.
How long are you going to keep the car? If its longer than the Factory Warranty, how much longer? I figure you're likely to spend $1500-2000 on some out of warranty repair (not a normal wear item repair) within the following 2 years. Will you keep the car longer than 4+2 years? Are you willing to bet that you will need a transmission or or suffer another really Major component failure in the 2 year period following the Factory Warranty? Will you keep the car longer than that with all the fabulous new cars available then?
Like I said... its a wager. Warranty sellers couldn't be in the business (and sell an affordable product) if all they did is pay out.
