Vehicle Turn-in Disposition Fee

Just curious as to how many of you have had to pay the Vehicle Turn-in (Disposition) Fee. I recently turned in my previously leased Mercedes having leased a new 2007. Today I received a statement from Mercedes w/ a balance of $376.34. It was noted on my original paperwork for the old car, however I could have sworn that my salesman told me it would be waived provided I leased another car. I tried calling my salesman however he's off the next few days. Just don't want to pay if I don't have to as I tunred the car in with only 24,000 when it should have had 48,000. I think they're still way ahead.

It should be waived if you get another MB. That was stated when I signed for my lease last July.

Still haven't talked with my salesman as he's out of the office but I did call MB finacial & they said that yes the turn-in fee is generally waived. The only problem is that the dealership has to submit a code to MB financial to waive the fee. It's always something Hopefully it can be resolved. Guess I've learned something else to watch for in the future.

Never leased a car before. Exactly what is a Turn-in (Disposition) Fee?

Is it the extra mileage over the estimate? I plan to lease my upcoming
08 so I will be sure to note whether or not this fee will be waived.

Thanks for the heads-up.

No its not the over mileage cost but a fee that is charged when the vehicle is turned in supposedly to offset the cost to the leasing company of transport and reconditioning. Its spelled out at the onset of the lease and in some cases is negotiable. Not a huge fee but usually maybe 300 to 350.

The M-B website lists a $795 aquisition fee and a $595 vehicle turn-in fee on a 2007 E350 lease.

My Turn in fee from my 07 E350 is $595. Helpful to know that the dealer has to trigger the process. I won't be worrying until after ~4 years.

When I was leasing my '07, the salesman warned me there could be a timing issue, where the MB Financial would issue a disposition invoice before your new lease gets registered. In other words, he told me to ignore the bill, as it would get processed eventually. In my case, I did not get the bill, so didn't personally experience the issue.

Does the dealer benefit from the turn-in fee?

Not certain but I do not believe so. By the way the turn in fee on both my 05 E320 and my 06 ML500 is $350.00 to be waived with a subsequent lease or finance of another new vehicle thru MBCC.

$350 was the fee through 2006. Went to $595 on 2007 leases with built in waiver of the fee if you lease another vehicle at the end of your current lease.

That’s interesting. But - at lease signing, does the “dealer” have the
option to strike that if he really wanted to?

I’m sure he wouldn’t really want to because it’s a good hook to keep
you buying from him.
