What navi cd # is form NY Metro (NJ/NY/PA/CT)

ANy ideas where since the stealer wants too much? Also what # cd is it
Just so you know... there is no noticeable difference in the Data between the 2005 DVD I had in my '04 E, and the one in my '07. Save your dough... & besides the new DVD may "update" (crash) your system so that it has to go to the dealer for a software update.
The updates include new/changes in roads and the above mentioned POI's.
As Barry stated, save your money. If you want to take baby steps, ver 2005.3 can be bought very inexpensively on Ebay.

Update: auction just ended. Paid $15 shipped for it. I think it'll work fine on my 04.

But again, you do or do not have a NAV drive inside the trunk on the left side quarter panel. Just because the COMAND unit has a button marked "NAV" and a big screen, does NOT mean that the car is Navigation System Equipped.

I see what you are talking about. its on the left side.. theres 2 things to open, when i open it up there is a fuse box. Thats all I see. Can i get a nav drive?
It requires the drive, some wiring, getting into the cars software to tell it it has a NAV unit, (Coding) a new left side trunk liner with plastic door for drive access, brackets, & a whole lot of other stuff. Its not a "Plug 'n' Play" job... more like a "Plug & Pray" type of project. Some dealers will do it, some won't. A few guys here have done it themselves. Do a search of the Forum. It will be a more expensive job than you think.
You'll find that this forum is a very knowlegeable place with some nice people in it.
Enjoy your car!

Also, since I have the door, and I have the navigation headunit. What else is it I need. Where can i get the drive from, is there a kit? I see what you have sent me in that link, but I don't know how to order or see a price.

I understand you didn’t buy from a MB dealer did you sign anything to the effect of taking delivery as is? If not, they are responsible. Return to the dealer and have them install the navigation processor at no cost inclusive of the most recent navigation DVD - 2006.2, PN BQ6460223. Understand it has nothing to do with warranty coverage but rather getting what you paid for.

When i start the car is says.. do not become distracted by command navigation.
would it say that if i DIDNT have navigation installed?
I hopped in my trunk (im not too big) and upon further inspection, it seems as if the bracket is there. The panel is there obviously, and its got carpet over it (nothing tampered) and i can see a metal something on the left side of the panel.. is this the bracket?
If this is the case and the comand drive was removed - is this simpler for me? Wouldnt i just need the drive since i might supposedly have the navigation. Either way I am calling my Mbenz dealer tomorrow that I am going to use near me. I will give the vin and if it says it came with navi, what do I do?
I bought my car from Deluxe Auto INC. They are a luxury car dealer. (sells phantoms, ferraris, every model audi, benz, bmw) etc. I ran the car fax it was a 1 owner on lease in Long Island, NY. It was then sold at a PA auction.. and thats where I assume Deluxe Auto got it. I was told it had navigation, to prove this, they said when I buy the DVD, whatever it costs - I send them the receipt and they will pay me back. So i assume they believe it has navigation also, especially since THEY TOLD me it did. When i asked about the nav not working, they said the DVD was inside or they didn't have it.

A visit to the dealer will answer all of your questions as to whats missing. If you were told it has NAV, you have a case against the Seller. A lawyer might tell you to buy the DVD from the dealer & then get a check from the seller for restitution, thereby proving that they told you it had Navigation. ...but that is only 1 possibility. I am not giving you legal advice. you will probably have to consult an attorney AFTER the MB dealer tells you what you need to replace.
The NAV unit in the trunk is an easy thing for someone to steal, since it wouldnt be noticed in an auction situation. You'll know better what to do after you see the MB dealer.
Just how badly do you want NAV ?
And don't forget, you now have $14.00 invested in that NAVI DVD you just bought

Honestly i hardly ever use navigation. For the price of the retrofit .. i can get a tomtom one for $255 shipped - brand new. Think im going that route.. i will keep it in center console and just whip it out when I need to. Thanks alot for your guys help
