Flat hood emblem for W211
What is the best source for the flat hood emblems (to replace the hood star on ’06 W211)? (Good quality, that will not chip or crack)
How difficult it is to remove the spring loaded star and replace it w/ the MB flat emblem?

Check it out:

I also saw another one AFTER I bought mine. It looks like a good one as well, but I don't know if they are available anymore. I would ask him.
Here it is: https://mbworld.org/forums/showthread.php?t=189980
The other options I saw out there are the cheap, plastic, double sided tape flat emblems that are way too big for the indented hole in the hood. I think these are made to fit in the indented hole of the SL, CLS, etc. They are OEM, but do not compare to the quality and originality of the one that I got for my E.
The removal/replacement process takes about 30 seconds. REALLY easy. Basically it just twists into place from under the hood. About a half of a twist. You'll see how easy it is.
Hope this helps.

+ 1 for DFWdude flat hood emblem (aka WHITE STAR badge)! Changing out the Star is simple. Don't go cheap with a plastic one, get the DFWdude one if he still makes them.

If i was selling emblems for $100 and people were actually buying, i'd be pretty nice to them too. Can't believe people actually pay that. Wow. Weird how prices here and what people are willing to pay is so different. Same set of rims + tires sold for $450 in one thread sold for over $1,000 in another. Hmm...

DFWdude can speak for these, but his product is hand-made from the OEM upright star base, inlaid with a special White Star insert he designed and imported from overseas. He also signs each badge and serial numbers them, so in the limited numbers that are currently out there, they are somewhat a collector's item for MB lovers.
Currently there are less than 250 of these on the planet, so some would say they are more exclusively unique than any set of wheels one could buy.
A genuine MB shop dipstick (you never see) costs more than these hood badges. Some would say the unique badge is far more desirable. Nothing on a Mercedes is cheap. But to each his own.

Um, actually there are less than 200 of these on the planet. I sold #196 just today, so anyone wanting a WHITE STAR Flat Badge with a serial number less than 200 should contact me at the e-mail in my signature right away.

There is nothing better than the DFWdude badge, period. I've tried several others, even custom making my own and was never satisified. I'm the proud owner of production #51 white star badge. You pay for what you get.

There are a variety of badges out there: old style, smaller diameter, AMG,
larger diameter, silver star, white star.... they're all options. None of these
are collectables in the true sense....more like 'collectable' {ahem} in the
Franklin Mint Collection sense. If you follow cars, antique, collector cars, etc,
only the factory issued items really have a chance. Truth is, the all the badge
variations are just trinkets to match individual preferences.
