Increase HP on E500 (w/o voiding warranty)
Hey everyone. I was wondering if any of you have done any tuning on your w211 to increase the hp, without voiding warranty? If so, what did you do, and was it expensive? How much faster did it make the car?
If this is something that is not commonly done, I apologize. I am not mechanically inclined
Thanks!

There is nothing you can do without voiding the warranty.
Your--and anyone else's--chance of doing something smarter than the factory is zero.

Or, to put in economic terms, by the time you got done with the engine mods that would be necessary to generate a really noticeable increase in power, you would have spent nearly as much more as the price of an '03 E55 - but you still wouldn't have an AMG.

We could always toss a dry nitrous kit on it. Compucar makes a "nitrous in a bag" that could be easily removed. Besides, you couldn't blow it up on a small shot no matter how hard you tried!
Oh then, removed the exhaust from the manifolds back and have something custom made. It would have to be fairly obnoxious to warrant a true gain but at least it could be put back to stock. The get some sticky tires to get you out of the hole.

That is a common misconception that you void the warranty if you make any changes. You can make all the changes you want but the catch is if something breaks and the failure can be attributed to the changes made then it is void.
An example would be that you get your ECU tuned and your pulleys fail. MB will have to prove that the pulleys failed because of the upgraded ECU. Some situations are more clear-cut like you change the ECU and the gas tank starts to leak. There is no connection between the two events and the warranty is still intact.
You can make changes to your car without automatically voiding the warranty but if something does fail you might be left stranded. The upside is that MB has the burden of proof.
