Not if you are careful. Use dental floss to separate the emblem from the car, then goof off or other non destructive adhesive remover, finally some good wax. Do not use your fingernails and take your time, be patient.

dental floss worked like *** for me, it kept breaking... get yourself some hot water... and some fishing line

Warm up the letters by pouring the water on them... then use the fishing line to peel back all the glue behind the letters

^^^

Hair Dryer + fishing line worked like magic.

I removed the slight outline left by the letter/numbers with Scratch-X and applied polish.

Voila!

When I removed the badges from my car, I used Goo gone and a few pieces of floss. Took a little bit of work, but got the badges off without a scratch. And i let a professional attached mercedes emblem it require careful mounting with the use of special chemicals so that it can be bonded rigidly to the finish without damaging it. Although i can install it myself with some hardware included on the badge.

to hide the scratches you can always stick on a "E55 AMG" badge

I got badge off pretty well. There is however a light film where the E500 badge was. I have waxed it, but it remains. Should I leave it and with future cleaning and waxing it will fade, or should I try something else?
Thanks

get some "cleaner wax" at your local auto parts store, that should do the trick.

A hair dryer works wonders in heating the bonding. If you get the badge warm enough then dental floss will glide through the bonding.

The hair dryer also works when removing any dealer decals that get placed on the rear window.

VM&P Naptha... AKA Tar Remover, AKA carpet stain remover, will get it off. From Home Depot or Paint Store.
