hid mishap,,,,,,,,, compacitor ecplosion..,. BOOM!
hey, so i bought a set of hids for my 2007 e350 and tried installing them using the sticky posted. i wired the compacitor (radioshack 2000uf 35w) as per directions on the forum. after finishing the instal i turned on the lights and they looked great.until...............
BOOM!
my compacitor blew up and caught fire... i rewired the kit without the compacitor and the hids worked fine. no modding the ecu or anyhting.
y did the compacitor blow up ?
my hids work well without the compacitor except my drivers side light is a little shaky, the beem shakes a little but no on and off flickers.
only my drivers side headlight is a little shacky
passenger side is perfect
how do i stop it from shaking?

you must have it installed the wrong way, or you did not insulate the capacitor properly.
W/ such low rating capacitor that interact w/ 12V, even if your capcitor goes bad, it will not caught fire.
Also, if your light is "shacky" that mean, it does NOT ignit properly, or it is going bad. You might also forgot to turn off your DRL from your commend.

I have to say the same thing as 'no clue' only way possible is to hook it backwards.
It should never get hot otherwise something is wrong.
As for the shaky light, I don't think you have the bulb seated and locked in place. Check that.

Apparently I took a liking to my neighbor's collection of exposed razor blades that he had kept in a shoe box above the toilet. I guess I liked that they were shiny or something.
My mom said I started crying only when I was pulled away from all those blades.
