Dealer Prep and Detailing

Is there a standardized preparation that MB dealers use when they receive new cars for customer delivery? When my car arrives in Oct. I want to apply a Menzerna or Klasse treatment prior to winter and am wondering if the dealer waxes the car or just washes. If they apply a wax I may have to remove it if I'm applying a polymer type wax such as Menzerna FMJ. Just wondering what the dealer actually does to a car when they receive it off the truck, both for mechanical checks as well as detailing?

Also be sure you set the Transmission to "C" Mode for the 1st 1,000 miles (per the manual) & check (then probably lower) the tire air pressures. They come way overfilled.

Dealer prep

Thanks for that tip. Was not aware of the C mode for first 1000 mi. Was thinking I would like to get an owner and Command manual prior to getting the car but MBUSA didn't have them available when I checked last week. Probably want a fortune for them. When you get a new MB you almost have to not drive until you digest the manual just for the things you mentioned.

Like all dealers the standard prep is to wash the car and then dry it with the most filthy rag they can find.

(Used shop rags usually work very well.)

My salesman agrees with the postings here, that it ISN’T the dealer
or MB's policy to provide a wax before delivery.

However, my salesman had it waxed for me out of his own pocket.

Perhaps their are some dealers who have competent detailers. Not mine. I try to avoid having my dealer wash or detail my car. Their detailing skill is limited to applying 1 quart of oil to each tire and a sloppy wash.
