Don't know if it'll rub or not but that is not the correct tire size for 20" wheels. If you run those tire sizes, your speedometer will be off becuase the overall diameter will be bigger. For a 20" staggered setup, you will want to run 245/30/20 and 275/25/20 to ensure that your speedometer will not be off.

Check tirerack.com for correct wheels and tire sizes for your car.

Then maybe you should consider 19's or 18's. Good luck with running an incorrect diameter setup.

I have a 285/30/20 on a 20" 10.5 inch wheel and get a little rubbing. Nothing major. My car is lowered about an inch and a 1/2. Depending on how much you want to lower your car, You can go with either a 25 or 30 series tires.

I have the same set up on my 07 sport...no issues with rubbing or speedo...

the 35 & 30 series are enough tire to give you a smooth ride... That was my main concern...I have 2 boys (10yrs old & 10months old) with a full car, I have had no problems with the ride quality....also, you don't need to lower your car since you have the sport...unless you want the 'slammed look' then maybe 1.2" drop all 'round will do the trick...you gotta show some pix when you got it all dialed in....

Although you may not have rubbing issues, I can tell you that your speedo is definately off. The total rolling diameter has changed therefore your speedometer has no choice but to be incorrect.

Here is a great website that will do the calculations for you.

http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

Here is a screenshot of the data for your particular application. Notice when your speedo says 60mph, your actually traveling 62.5. Or a 4.2% error. Obviously, as speed increases so will the delta.

I don't see why it won't work. I think even if you lower your vehicle, rubbing shouldn't be an issue and if so, very minimal.

Go with 285 30 20 in the rear. I have it set up that way on a 20x10 in the rear. I have not dropped the car yet though.

Check tirerack.com for correct wheels and tire sizes for your car.
Are you sure about this? I contacted Luke from Tire Rack and he told me to run 235/30/20 with 275/25/20 in order to maintain the correct diameters. I did the calculation also, and it does appear to have the closest diameters to run those sizes. Originally, I wanted to run 245/30/20 but the overall diameter of that setup will be greater than the 275/25/20s that I'm using in the rear.
