2009 E Class interior is horrible!
Hopefully, M-B will get feedback before producing this disgusting interior. IF not, sales will suck and MB will revise the interior quickly. You would think MB would know its target buyer. At least, get a few people (public) in a room for feedback.
Honestly, MB needs to take some cues from Audi and Lexus when designing the interiors.....

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
This angular b.s has no flow. Where's the chi

Hopefully by some flook the E60 replacement isn't as hideous as the E60 is.

Bad, Bad, Bad! I would NEVER learn to love that interior. Sure hope they don't make that big of an obvious mistake. Does not have any Luxury appeal what so ever. It pained me to see BMW make such a bold move with their current designs & I hope Mercedes sticks with elegance & not edgy designs. I think someone here in MBWorld forums needs to photoshop a decent interior & email it to the Mercedes German designers.

Someone mentioned that the spy photograph shows an S-Class style direct shifter and this picture shows a manual shifter. To address this--don't forget that in European markets they offer manual transmissions on the E-Class, so it is possible that they will have two different shift mechanisms for manual and automatic. The cars that currently have the direct shifter (S-Class, CL-Class, R-Class, M-Class, GL-Class, and R-Class) do not have manual transmissions as options anywhere in the world, so it was normal for them all to have the same shifter. But with the E-Class, they have always had both options, so we might seem both methods, just not in the US.
Next issue: the small navigation screen. That screen in the picture looks like the C-Class without navigation. Again, in non-US markets, you can get an E-Class without COMAND screen. These pictures could be showing a European version of a new Audio 20 or Audio 50 unit, and not the COMAND navigation screen which might have a flip up system similar to the new C-Class. I have also heard that many new cars in the future will feature nav screens higher up on the dash because there might be new regulations on that for saftey and distraction reasons.
I agree with you all that it is pretty hideous, but unfortunately I think many might be in denial. Also, regarding the comment that with new designs we all hatethem at first, then learn to like them, then love them. I would disagree. For the W221 S-Class I did follow that pattern, but with the W204 C-Class it is not the same. I have grown to love the exterior of the new C-Class (moreso after seeing a brand new black C350 on the road tonight), but I honestly don't think the interior will ever captivate me like my W203 does. I will no doubt learn to live with it, but love it is another story. I feel that the same might be true of the new W212 E-Class.

This too will definitely be my last E-Class. I chose my car over the BMW because it seemed to be more luxurious. This interior looks cheap & messy. It's like they said "hey let's design the most hideous interior & see if we can get someone to buy it". I'm quite pleased on the exterior shots I've seen. We do have choices in the cars we buy & I guess I'll move on to another brand. If this is remotely close to the new C interior, I'm just not feeling it. And why should we have to "learn" to like something. I guess it's kinda like that really ugly girl that has a nice personality. You learn to like her you just don't want to marry her or be seen in public with her. Mercedes will be taking a HUGE step back with this one. The Audi is looking much more appealing now.http://www.autowereld.com/spyshots/d...des%20E-klasse
but....hmm....I think........
new W212 missing the rapid-fire button on the steering wheel.

I checked the date of the post to make sure it was not posted on April 1st. Great laugh though and thanks for posting a humorous thread. To use the famous quotation from Victor Meldrew:
I don't believe it!
