yeah actually i take 805 north. i know exactly where your talking baout. im not near carmel mountain though. if you take 805 south exit mira mesa, turn left, make a left at the first light which is vista sorrento pkwy, go up 2 lights past the 805 north onramp, past the car pool parking. my office is on the corner of lusk and vista sorrento pkwy. the place with the big waterfall going down to the street corner.

Cool article. Hey bmms8, while I'm not from SD, my family vacations every year at the SD Hilton Beach & Tennis Resort - love the atmosphere and, of course, the weather.

Nice town you have - we always try to a Padres game (remember that we have the Reds and Bengals in town), Cheesecake Factory, Wild Animal Park, friends' house in Rancho Bernardo, and other stuff.

Now if I can only convince my family to let me drive my E500 instead of flying this next summer...

No, it's off of East Mission Bay - right next to Sea World and Clairemont. Great location to all the attractions, including the downtown hot spots.

You're right on with the price - the kids like the cheesecake more than me, but i just go for the atmosphere (we usually go late night).

well actually its in fashion valley mall, which is mission valley technically by zip code. there are to many communities in the city of San Diego it gets the people who live here confused. i guess that would be considered close to clairmont and sea world. i live here so i dont think so but i can see how a visitor might think so since fashion valley is on friars road and that goes down towards sea world drive.

No, I mean the hotel is on East Mission Bay Drive right across the water from Sea World. But yup, the Cheesecake Factory that we go to is off Friars Road near some shopping center (not Fashion Valley where we've also been).

And one of these days, we'll get everyone to venture into Mexico for some fun, instead of always going to the zoo or whatever.

oh ok i gotcha. but the cheesecake factory is in at fashion valley mall. fashion valley is west of the 163. when you are on friars road entering to the mall entrance where the cheesecake factory is, thats also fashion valley. you may be referring to mission valley mall which is about a mile east of fashion valley. you can either go on friars road or the 8. you may be referring to horton plaza in downtown though. either way they are all great shopping centers. fashion valley and horton plaza are by far my favorites. i only go to mission valley for the AMC 30 to go to the movies.

trust me unless you go way south into mexico like enicinata or cabo san lucas then dont expect to much. tj is ok for shopping for someone if you just wanna pick them up something cheap and cheerful, but IMHO there is really nothing much else there. sure you can eat and dance and shop, but unless you wanna watered down margarita to wash down the generic prozac viagra you bought at the tj drugstore, to calm you nerves while your waiting in line to declare your plaster porky pig piggy bank and Calvin Kling jeans and Dolke & Garbana sunglasses you bought there, there is not much else to do. thats just me!

Correct....I remember we used to go to club XS by the border, $5 gate fee and all you can drink. Then the occasional shopping on Revolucion. Good old days in SD.

yeah im not a big tj fan. i grew up in so cal and ive been maybe 6x total to tj. im just into it. to me when i was underage the clubs werent worth the hassle, and now being 26 there is no need to go there for the clubs. i like going south into baja california and such, but tj just isnt my style. i went there more when when i was in the marines than i did the rest of my life. 4x in the marines, and 2x otherwise.
