I guess I'm late to this party.

I was certain these batteries were gonna be some exotic european foo-foo type of rare battery...

Same battery used in most PC's for CMOS. They are literally everywhere.

Interesting, I never changed batteries in remote even for cars owning over 10 years. What can be a reason that battery is drained so fast? Acidently pressing a button sitting on something?

the "keyless go" drains the battery bc the remote is constantly communicating to the car when you are near it or in it.

My car is three weeks old and it's already telling me to change the remote's battery!!! I have keyless go, but I thought it was a bad key and I was gonna bring it up to svc dept on the 1,000 free service.

Am I gonna have to deal with this all the time?

Have your dealer replace the batteries to both keys at no cost. For some reason you were given a weak battery and no, you should not have to deal with this often.

When I leave the car in the garage I tend to leave the key in it. Batteries are dead after about 2-3 months. I have started taking the key in the house. Too much of a pain to keep changing the batteries.

I see, thanks. It looks like automakers should find a solution when a remote with keyless go feature can be constantly charged when it is in a car.

I had to replace mine yesterday, $1.85 each for the 2025 at our local Drug Emporium. 2 minute deal, and after reading this thread, should have bought a half dozen.

They usually run for about $2.50 each so $1.85 is a really good price.

My Range Rover Sport doesn't have keyless go, but it does charge the remote battery whenever the key is in the ignition.

YOU CAN CHARGE CR2032 BATTERY???????

BMW Fob also use CR2025 battery. It does NOT self-charged.
Fob dock is to start your car in the event your battery runs out, but NOT for recharging.

Well, no, I can't. But apparently my RRS can.

From the Land Rover website:

"The remote handsetīs battery recharges automatically when the key is placed into the ignition switch."

And I'm not sure it's a CR2032 battery.
