Engineer Menu – Euro Command W211
Hi ..
Me and my friend have a Euro command on E500 & E63, we try to unlock the video in motion while press and hold mute + Hung up phone & service same time, but we are unable to get the menu that said welcome to engineer menu.
Can any one advise in regarding this, Dose any one face the same problem.

As TASHAKES indicated in his post the trick has been disabled with 2006 models and on. However, it is still possible to get in-motion DVD playback enabled but it is certainly not as easy as it used to. I don't know where you are located but there are several people I know of who can do this job for you. Steve NL (he is in located in Holland) can enable DVD playback via Star Diagnose tool. It would require you to send the unit to him and wait until it comes back. There is a shop in New York (www.mbdoctor.com) and guys there can also do it for you. This is where I had my unit unlocked and it worked very well.
There is also a company in Germany that sells a small device that simply plugs in the back of your COMAND unit and enables DVD playback in-motion automatically. I cannot recall the name of the company now but could look it up for you later. I don't know what they charge for their tool and it maybe prohibitively expensive to buy if you only want to unlock two COMAND units.
Bottom line, you really have four options:
1. Don't do anything and keep driving your car as is without DVD playback in motion.
2. Find an older COMAND unit (they cost about $750) that was produced prior to 2006 and where you'd be able to access the Engineering Menu through the well known loophole.
3. Contact SteveNL or MB Doctor and see if they could give you a good deal on unlocking two units at the same time.
4. Buy the unlocking device from the German vendor and start your own business for unlocking COMAND units in your region.

Here are the required steps for activating Video in Motion:
ENGINEERING MODE Menu:
Press Mute + Endcall + Service (all together and hold for 5 secs)
ENGINEERING MODE Extended Menu:
ENGINEERING MODE Menu:
Press # * left cursor arrow (all together and hold for 5 secs)
The new menu items are:
• Dr.Dist – Driver Distraction
• RegCod – Region Code
• Backd…- Backdoor
Driver Distraction menu:
handbrake locked
gear shift in P
speed 0 km/h
speed 10 km/h
general picture lock
Un-selecting these gives you 'Video in Motion'
Note:
The following software update for the headunit will remove access to the engineering menu:
SW-Rel 15.130 Build - SW Year/Week:05/51
I.e, This SW release removes the access to to the DrDIST, RegCode and Backd "hidden menus" so if you have access to multi region DVD's and "Video in motion" you will lose these features if you upgrade your headunit)

i have the stock navigation with the sat button but after changing the model in the menus, when i go to the sat button it goes into dvd mode. i got a lot more options too- wap, address book, telephone, names on the radio, etc. but i was wondering if anybody knew how to bypass the dvd when im driving.

Wrong, mine was unlocked by my gray market service guy here in Jakarta, of course he is the official Brabus and Lorinser dealer here but Mercedes Indonesia hates the guy as he has the contacts in Germany and steals alot of business from them.....
