Cool Help!!! Should I go with 19" or 20"

This topic might have been discussed before but I'm a new owner of a 04 E-320 and I want to buy some wheels but I can't decide to go with either 19's or 20's... Can anybody direct me in anyway? what are the pro's and con's of both sizes? Any comment will be highly appriciated.

I still want to keep the smoothness of the car which is one thing I love about the car.For the 19's I would go with Sevas S-Star Black but if I go with 20's I would go with Sevas S55 Black..

20's will look the most aggressive, if that's what you want. Keep in mind, that the larger the wheel, the thinner the sidewall will have to be to keep the integrity of the overall diameter of the stock wheel and tire. With 20's you're most likely gonna run 245/30/20 in the front and 275/25/20 in the rear. That, in my opinion is not enough sidewall to keep the ride comfortable. I have 19's running 245/35/19 and 275/30/19 and the ride is harsh. Much stiffer than my stock 17's. But I'm lowered a good amount too. If you're not lowered too much, I would say 19's would give the best compliment between comfort and looks

Though the 20"s may look cool, I think you will really give up ride comfort.

I think 18-19" max if you want to still have a comfortable ride - just my 2 cents ;-)

Just get 20s, ride on rubberbands, and ride as low as you possible can. Oh wait, did you say you DO NOT want to sacrifice ride quality? Forget everything that I just said then, I'm .

I've never had either on any car I've ever owned so be forewarned my opinion may not hold as much weight as others.

I prefer 19's:

1. Cheaper
2. Better comfort and functionality.
3. Won't raise the car as much (some cars with 20's look funny because it raises the car up too high. With 20's, you'll probably need to lower it significantly. This is an example of what you do NOT want: https://mbworld.org/forums/attachmen...1&d=1167943974 That thing may as well be a 4x4. And those are already 19's. With 20's, you'll have to make that much more adjustments just to make it look decent.
4. 19's are just easier and you won't have to worry other stuff that you'll see will be of concern when getting rims too large.

GOod luck with whatever you choose and share us some pics.

I have 20's on my E, and dont find the ride harsh at all, and I live in NY. I live outside the city though, so I guess it depends where you live and the road conditions.

The "incorrect" 20" sizes (245/35/20 and 275/30/20) are in fact cheaper than their 19" counterparts. However if you decide to run 245/30/20 and 285/25/20 (the correct sizing) then tires are far more expensive.

If it were me I would run a bit less traditional setup in order to save cost while maintaining a near OEM rolling diameter. Something like 245/30/20 front and 265/30/20 rear. Or even 255 rears. I drive an E320, theres no point in having 275 wide rear tires - I couldnt get them to spin off the line if I tried.

I struggled with this same exact issue for 2 months before I decided on 20's. The actual ride in the 20's isn't as bad as people say it it...yes, you can feel a lot more than what you did with your stock OEM 17's but you'll also feel more with the 19's as well.

Benz-o-Rama is right...the best combination of comfort and look would be 19's but in the end I chose 20's because someone else on the boards asked me if I would be mad coming 1" short if didn't like the look. 20's just look so much more aggressive on our cars, and it fills the wheel well nicely. That's why I went with the 20's.

It's really your choice whether to go with 19's or 20's but make sure your happy with your decision either way or you'll end up paying more out of pocket to get new wheels if your not happy with the wheels you buy.

BTW, the correct fitment would be 245/30/20 in the front and 285/25/20 in the rears...and those tires aren't cheap...believe me!

Plus, with 20s you get to tell everyone you have DUBS...

In all honesty I will move to 19s from the stocks wheels soon.

I've had 19's and now I have 20's, with the 19s ride is harsh and 20s even worse. The car rides so smooth with the stock 17s, way better than my wifes C240 and my moms C300. Now I have to drive slow over bumpy roads and up and down driveways. It sucks but the car looks good, real good with 20s. Its almost wrong for a mercedes to feel this way, When I have family in my car I put it in the smoothest setting. When I get tired of this I will get 18s or maybe 19s, if 19s I will try not to run anything thinner than a 35 series sidewall.

Smile I Made my decision

SO After reading comments from everyone which I appreciate, I decided to go with 20's the Sevas S55 Black & chrome Staggered 20 X 10 & 20 x 8.5 and with Toyo TR1 tires 285/25/20 on the back & 245/30/20 in the front. The reason why I decided to go with the 20's is that I would be really highly disappointed if I put the 19's and I realized that the 19's weren't big enough and also the S55 I think look much sicker than the S-Star.. I will post my pictures when I get them on which will be in about a week and a Half. And I will also tell you how the baby rides if it's that much harsher or not for whom ever it's having the same problem.. Thanks Alot to everybody who post it their comments. Thank you..!!!
