Programming Bluetooth In A 2008 E350
Hi Everyone,
A friend of mine has a new E350 and wants to connect her phone to the car's bluetooth.
1) Does the car come with Bluetooth standard?
2) If So, How do I connect it?
3) If Not, Can I buy it from a dealership the way I bought my Bluetooth Module for my car?
Thanks a lot guys.
Bradley

If the E350 is equipped with the phone kit, the BT setup would work as on the W221. The HU would make a difference if it was a BT SAP puck but on a BT HF puck with a fixed pairing key, the HU should not play a role.
I'm not 100%, but if the car has Comand it should be prewired for BT. To see if it has BT, just pull back the armrest behind the cup holders and see if there's a BT "puck" if there's nothing, there should be a little cover you can take off and snap on a BT puck.
I think there's 2 different pucks, not sure about the difference, but I think this is the newer one and is the same one in my car. Its just a snap on thing so you can install this yourself.

You have to buy a phone cradle or a Bluetooth module and you have to have a supported phone.
Here's the site that provides the Info and sells the devices you need.

If your friend purchased his vehicle with "P1" package, it came a prewire's Handsfree communication system that will enable you to install a bluetooth or phone cradle interface which is sold separate. I bought the bluetooth interface from autowireless for $420. I was able to hook my phone (Motorola RAZR model) via bluetooth to the MB Comand system.

Be careful with eBay and discounted BT modules. Sometimes what you'll find are 1st generation modules that don't support all phones. One good example is the iPhone. It's my understanding that only second generation BT modules support it.
BTW, that's what I have in my car (2nd gen BT and iPhone) and they work together like a charm!

Gents,
Just an FYI. I have the first gen BT (Part # B67875839) installed in my 2007 E550 talking to Apple iPhone 4 OS 4.2.1 and it works fine. It even downloaded all the contacts to my COMMAND center.

Are you guys talking about the BT Puck with tail or the BT module that is put on top of the cradle phone system inside the upper arm rest compartment?
BT Puck first and second generation work fine with iPhone, Blackberry, HTC, Blackjack, etc. We tested both BT Pucks before with different phones.
