MP3 files on COMMAND

I have 2005 E0320 CDI and I cannot play MP3 files. I am wondering what version of COMMAND would give me this option ? Also, how to check what version of COMMAND I have? I am planning to go to service next week and at least I don't want look stupid

I was so long on VW forum and it's real refreshment for me

Thank you in advance

Assuming that you're talking about the single slot cd player, you need to have the software updated as mentioned in this thread : Click here

The question is: how to check what version of software I have ? Also, I am not familiar if I have CD or DVD in my car. Is 2005 CDI coming with CD (as standard) or DVD ?

A lot of stupid questions in this moment but I don't have time to spend analyzing car (I hope during Christmas I can get some time off from wife & work

Why we are living in stone age in North America ?

Is it possible to replace CD with DVD unit ? If so, how diffucult it is ? Also, due to I don't have DVD, I cannot use DVD navigation ? True or False

if you have an 03, you got one of the early productions that have a DVD drive in the headunit. you can unlock it and play movies. search "engineering mode"

I have a 04 E500. The single in dash cd drive will play MP3's on a CD. I can see the folders etc

Initially it would not play - had to take in in for a sw upgrade that will allow MP3's to be played.

The CD changer will not play MP3 on mine - but the newer ones will. Unless you replace you cd changero r it fails while inder warranty ... then you may get a new cd changer.

The drive can be updated via software - no need of a change to Euro to play MP3's

Try and put a couple MP3 on a DVD-R. Mines reads them, I have like 1400 MP3s loaded on one DVD...Makes hooking a IPOD into the car not worth the cost.

John: do you know what version of COMMAND software you have ? Or it's the latest one (recently upgraded).

If I go for DVD upgrade (from CD), where is place in trunk for DVD ? I thought that DVD is replacing CD unit on dashboard. Everyday to learn something

I have the latest, i it had to get updated for the bluetooth puck. But it was working with DVD-R prior to the s/w update. To clarify, im using the slot above the COMAND in the dash. The unit in the trunk is ONLY for NAV

I just got ahold of the update CD last night. MP3 playback is an awesome addition for just popping in a software update. I couldn't even go to sleep last night thinking about it.
