headlights
I bought a set at Pep Boys. They come in two heat ranges now. At the time only the 4K range was available. They are a pretty significant improvement over stock. They produce a whiter light with better down range visibility. $40 for the set. I have another vehicle with factory HID and it is clearly superior to the Sylvania set up but not enough for me to start butchering the wiring harness etc to put in aftermarket Xenon. Hang on for a little while, LED is coming.

But, go to eBay and search for:
Item Title: XENON HID BULB BLUE WHITE 8000K H7 100W HIGH BRIGHT
Item Number: 250181257899
I'm running this lamp as the low beam and the loght is brilliant.
I don't remember the last time I needed the high-beams.
And they don't cook the wiring, either....
If you don't want the bother / expense of HID, it is worth it. These bulbs are made in Germany, reliable and not over the top. There are plenty of others out there that are flashier.

But I used the 100w as the low beam..
And it's an easy install.
Now, for the fog lights, thats different.
The fog light bulb is a 9006 bulb.
But it's plug-n-play also, once you get past the underskirt.

If we're standing in front of your car, looking at it.
The low-beam lights are housed in the outside ovals (the big ones).
The parking lights and the high-beams are housed in the inside ovals (the smaller ones).
The 100w H7 bulbs I bought from eBay went into the outside ovals (the low-beam light).
The parking bulb is a low watt bulb, I'm unsure what the model number is.. I haven't replaced mine.
The high-beam bulb is also an H7.
The only difference between the low-beam and the high-beam is the low-beam has the projector (which 'points' the light) as opposed to the high-beam which has no projector. If you've ever noticed, the high-beam bulb is clearly visible, unlike the low-beam.
Hope this helps...
Just replaced the driver side low beam light bulb. What a freakin' pain. Like Clinton, took me about a half hour. The majority of time was spent trying to pull the damn bulb out of the socket with one hand.
Other than that... Pretty damn easy DIY.
I like how the Mercedes hardware is solid. The plastic light cap is not flimsy. The harness is also more substantial than other car makes. That kind of little stuff is what makes me even more satisfied to have a Mercedes.
On even more of a tangent, the engine bay is relatively clean since the last engine wash 20,000 miles ago. Any other car make, and the engine bay would have been caked with dust and other gunk!

So I have a detailer do the engine clean.
