this is driving me insane as i am an audi tech and havent been able to figure this out. by the way i bench tested the hids and they work flawless on a 12v jumper box.

not everyone in the world lives in a place where they need fog lights for adverse weather conditions or to improve visibility. never in my whole life have i ever said 'hmmm... i wish i had fog lights right now'. so if they're on the car, may as well make your car look nicer, as long as you don't aim them in a way that will blind other drivers.

So to say you prefer using a capacitor vs resistor is confusing as I don't know the application. If you have a circuit diaghram it might be helpful to see what you have. Otherwise just from the written description it sounds like you have overload causing a circuit breaker to trip, IF this is the case you have too much current and resistance in series with the load will drop the current. This resistor will also have to be sized in wattage to prevent burnout and it will get hot. Wire wound resistors usually work better in this application. So if you want more help you will have to provide the schematics or find someone who has made the same installation and previously solved the problem. I would like to help more but just don't have enough information.
