Serv F @ 32K follow up

Hi,

just wanted to follow up a post I had started/subscribed to. My '05 E500 with 32K was calling for a Serv. F with spark plugs, fuel filter, charcoal filter, and other longer-term changes. I was dreading the dealer would recommend "following the car's FSS" and I was determined to show them the MB maint. book and state these items are not due until 5 yrs. or 60K miles.

Well the SA said to disregard those items. He recommended a service B, and they reset the FSS. I now have a Serv. D due in 13K. All this for only $500 . While under warranty (one more year), I will have her serviced by MB, after that, its DIY.

During the service, I gave them the DTB which reduces the SBC noise (courtesy of Kongistiger - ), which they performed under warranty, and the noise is reduced, not eliminated.

As far as the constant clicking noise from my dynamic seats, (despite giving them Konigstiger's recommendations to ck. the system via diagnostics), they said this was normal operation of the valves opening and closing.

They also gave me a beautiful jade (?) green '08 E350 sport with 1,500 miles on it as a loaner. I noticed the engine temp. was about 10 deg. higher (90 deg.), than my E500.

I know there are others out there with a serv. F message with low mileage, if your SA insists on it, I recommend showing them your maint. book. (But like my SA, they really should'nt).

Thank you Kongistiger, Vettdvr, and the rest of the forum.

Did they recommend a brake fluid and power steering fluid flush? My SA did every two years and I told him to go ahead, but don't recall seeing it in the maintenance book (not to say it isn't).

I have no idea, I'm not sure my SA mention anything about recommending brake fluid or power steering fluid flush. The big thing was that he asked me if I would like to change the rear brake disc and pad. Which is costing $600 for the REAR Brake disc and pad. I told him I'm going to change it by myself. I just brought the two rear brake disc and pad for $164.10 including shipping.

What dealer are you using? I am in the Asheville area. Purchased a CPO E55 AMG from Hendrick one time and wasn't impressed with their service the limited experience I had. When I bought the E55 I noticed the rain sensor didn't work. I mentioned it before taking delivery of the car and they said they would fix it. A 1.75 hour drive one way, I took it to them to fix it a few weeks later and they gave it back saying they would have to order a part and sent me home. The whole time I had the car the sensor was not attached to the windshield, so I attached it myself (took a little force) but it worked 100% after that so I never returned. Still not sure what part they ordered. Their service dept might be good but that was my limited experience with them.

Man, sorry to hear you had such a terrible service. Charlotte is a Hendrick country. I don't like any of their dealer. Lexus, Mecerdes, Honda etc...,

I'm in charlotte, and I'm currently using Beck Imports of Charlotte. Indeed, I didn't not buy the car from them but they did most of my work even littlest thing under warranty without any hassle. Luckly, my car still under warranty until this Oct or 50k.

If you buy part from them it might be little more expensive. Which about $5-$6 more than other but their service is great. Everytime I have something just set up an appointment and have a loaner car. No matter how long it took, you can have the loaner as long as they have your car. Minus the gas or how much the gas is in the loaner just return the same way that's all. I had all kind of loaner car from them, E, R, C Ewagon this past time. I saw an SL, I was asking about it. She laugh at me. But maybe next I'll get to drive it.
