Living with a light interior

I have owned black over black or silver over black for 20 yrs. The lighter interior of the 211 is beautiful and have been considering a switch to a lighter interior color. The million dollar question is how difficult is it to keep it clean? I am in Michigan and will be driving the car year round. Obviously a really good set of winter mats will be in order. For those of you with the light interior, how do you like it? Is it impossible to keep clean?

I have Sahara Beige (it doesn't get any lighter) and I LOVE IT! I haven't had any problem keeping the seats clean and the contrast with the black is truly special (to say the least). Here's a pic from the day I got the car. Enjoy!

I have a Bordeaux Red Metallic with tan interior. Its great... I cover the tan floor mat with carpet protector you buy on home depot. What's the point of getting a tan interior if you going to put black rubber floormat. I only use the rubber floor mat whenever it rains.

I always love light color interior.

My ML has the ash interior (even lighter carpeting than the E-Class I think) and has been in the Midwest since it was built. The interior is pretty much spotless.

Hey Diesel, thanks for the compliment. Yes, that interior is truly spectacular. I really like white cars, and it was between white exterior with regular tan interior or sienna black with the sahara beige combo. I couldn't resist the interior!

P.S. Our other car is an ML Edition 10 which has the same interior (Macadamia instead of Sahara -- same combo). We have four dogs and take them around in the truck all the time. The interior is holding up great on the truck too. I'll be glad to post a pic of the ML if you want to see what it looks like.

I had a "java" interior in the previous car which was a C240. The mats and carpeting were the same light color as the interior. I used Blue Coral carpet and upholstery cleaner to keep the mats clean. I used Meguiars leather cleaner and conditioner to keep the seats clean.

The present E350 has a "cashmere" interior. The thing I especially like about this interior is that the carpet and mats are a bit darker, almost brown. They show dirt less than a lighter carpet.

I really like a tan interior. My last 5 out of 6 cars have had them. The sixth had a light grayish-beige interior and the carpet was a darker gray. I live in Florida and have never considered a dark interior because of the heat.

We have no children or pets so that helps keep the interior clean.

Hope this helps.

I love my JAVA interior. The only bits that get soiled easily are the door sills and the lower door panels. However, a 50% dilution of "Simple Green" and Water removes them EASILY. Simple Green is great!

On my current car I have the Cashmere interior. From day 1 I had the rubber mats on the floor for because from previous experience I know that the slush and snow leave stains. My previous car (C Class) had the Ash interior and I didn't have the floor mats. Every few months I'd throw the mats into the washing machine to give them a good wash otherwise they would stain up and it would look a little gross. Also in the summer sweating in the driver's seat and keeping your bare arms on the arm rest leaves some dirt. You can easily get it off with a damp cloth but if you have a dark interior you would not have to bother. All in all it's not that difficult to live with a light color interior.

Absolutely fantastic,

You guys sold me, no question! I have recently been looking at the lighter interior and I think it looks great, I was just alittle nervous about constantly cleaning it. No worries, I'm sold. Thanks again, it's good news.

That is my favorite color combo - That is what I would get if I was purchasing a new E-Class. Looks great!

Brilliant silver exterior/Ash interior. Love the interior color, but its a PIA to keep clean, especially on the door sills.
