I found a good site that sells a blade only and the whole part as well.
Can any mechanic install the part, blade only or the whole part?

If it is an origional part you can install the wiper in about 30 seconds. Just lift up the arm tilt the blade and slide it toward the pivot point and it will come off. The instructions are in the owners manual.

30 seconds? Did you ride the short bus to school? If it takes you more than 8 seconds to change the wipers on your W211 you should be forced to turn in your man card. There's not an easier wiper assembly on the planet.

I did not find a refill that is M-B specific for the "euro" wiper. I can say that several people on this board have retrofitted good quality refills with success.
The Bosch blade has a wider "T" cross section that makes it harder to slide in to the wiper arm. Some have reported that silicone makes the job easier. Snip the end to the correct length with kitchen scissors. Cost is about $7 vs $50 for the complete units. If I thought that new units would perform any better, I would gladly plunk down the money. These things remind me of fingernails on a chalkboard so much that I use Rain -x to keep from using them. One neat thing, the wiper arms have a rubber pad so that when you turn the wipers on accidently without the wiper blade, the arm does not scratch the glass. Really thoughtful and I can testify that it is a "useful" safeguard.

A wiper blade refill, not the entire wiper blade. (& Not the wiper arm). On domestic cars you can slide a rubber refill into the metal 6 claw blade from the end if you choose to buy a pack of refills. On our cars there are no exposed "claws" in which to slide in a refill rubber insert, so the blade must be replaced.
Domestic car Refills are typically sold 2 in a package at the parts store for about what a single blade in similar packaging goes for.
MB blades cost a lot more but typically last much longer than Anco's or Trico's used on domestic cars, so its almost a wash, price wise... unless you use your wipers as ice scrapers in the winter months.

This applies to MY '03, '04
There are actually 2 different wiper blade assemblies available from MB, with 2 different part numbers, because the arms are slightly different. (the rubber blade is the same however)
See my post from a year ago: Here
They are somewhat interchangeable so it's a cosmetic thing, if you want them to match. I found that putting the blade from photo 2 on arm in photo 1 resulted in too much play/loose fit. Just compare the photos.
Edit: The op doesn't show the MY of his 500 in his profile to the left, so this may apply.

"Once you have the wiper blade in your hand, tug on each end of the rubber insert. You will notice one end slides easily back and forth and the other end feels fixed. You want to work on the end that is fixed since that is where metal tab is fixing the rubber insert in position.
You will notice that each end of the wiper blade has a plastic cap. This cap can be removed. Working on the end of the wiper blade that the rubber insert is fixed, grasp the plastic cap with a needle nose plier working from the center point of the blade out. You then push the cap off that you have grasped with the pliers while simultaneously pulling on the wiper blade that you are holding with your other hand.
Getting the cap off requires some force. It is the most difficult step. Be careful not to hurt yourself.
Once you have the end cap off, you will notice a little metal tab dug into the wiper insert. Bend the metal tab up and the wiper insert slides right out.
I used a Lexor Type A insert that I got at Wal-Mart, and cost me I think under $3. The insert has to be long enough since the factory inserts are nearly 26" long (you line up the old and new insert and trim to size, be careful to trim off the part of the insert that is too wide to go in to the wiper blade). The part of the insert that slides into the wiper blade cannot be too wide or thick or it won't go all the way in. The Lexor Type A is really narrow at the top so slides in easily. I would love to get a silicone rubber insert, but the ones I have seen have not been long enough or have been too wide were they slide into the blade."

30 seconds for 2,, 15 seconds each,, but then it does take me a few seconds to walk around the car as my arms aren't quite long enough to do both from one side. So be nice to the senior citizen,, I am a bit slower than I use to be.
