That would make sense but I have never used it in that mode...
Why would the upgrade to the ver. 2007.2 put the MAP into night mode?
Problem is I can't find that big thick Command Manual right now...
How do I get it out of Night mode and into Day mode?
Thanks..

It could be an issue with the light sensor (do your interior lights come on at daytime when opening the door?) but if it happened after the MAP update, more likely an issue with the setting. Don't know the W211 Comand but there should be an auto setting. You could try to set the unit to factory settings if you can find that.

I think you are right... must be a light sensor thing.
I did the upgrade in the garage so it was kinda dark in there.... Funny, I never noticed it before.
I'll drive the car out in the daylight and see what happens...
No, my interior lights do not turn on when I enter the car.
Thanks for your help.

This was about the Navi update? Sometimes these are the same, sometimes different for US versus Euro. The Euro part number was mentioned somewhere, you could search for it and check if it is the same for the E-class.
Edited: just checked, the Navi processor update disk W211 589 15 22 00 is for US as well as ECE.
And the Comand unit update disks are different for US versus ECE.

i updated both COMAND and Navi with the part # listed here.
in-dash MP3 works
however, navi still won't display estimated time remaining
after the navi update, i put 08 navi disc
since it's reading it fine, i'm assuming the update went thru...
steve told me the time remain display feature is enabled from COMAND udpate disc... and noticed the disc i have was update from 2006.
if there a newer COMAND update since? if so, anyone have part #? thx.

I guess you did go through the menus and tried to set the ETA to be displayed on the main view? It can be switched off too (or set to coordinates display).

This is the latest one for a US Comand. I don't have a US Comand manual that would cover this setting, there would have to be some sort of a settings menu for these.

It's been a while since I started this thread, but wanted to add something I observed later after the upgrade. I am curious to see if others are experiencing the same issue.
It seems that the MFD is slow to update in some cases the Audio system data. i.e. if you are listening to FM and have the FM station listed on the MFD, the station will sometimes update immediately, and sometimes not. When using navigation (actively routing to a destination) it works without issue. It is almost as if when the Navigation unit sends data to the IC (a new road that you are on, etc.) that it updates the Audio data, but otherwise it does not. I am still investigating the cause of this and will post an update when I get it completely resolved.

Just an observation of mine, but on my '04 the SAT Channel #/Updating/No Signal info was sent to the Comand display first, then the MFD. By the time I got my '07 that same info was now being sent to the MFD first, then the Comand Screen... so it was changed sometime along the developmental path of the software.

This is probably gonna be a pretty dumb question, but what exactly is COMMAND? Is it the whole screen setup or is it the Nav?

It's the headunit that has the large LCD display (does not have the concealed cassette player). Navigation was an optional component of the COMAND system. COMAND is an acronym and is spelled with one "M."

In the USA the Acronym stands for: COckpit MANagement and Display
...its really just a powerfull sounding name for LCD Screen and supporting frame.
