Major issues to look for for 04 E55
I love MB but I know, after taling with many friends who have bought different benz models, major issues have come up. For example, a friend of mine who has a c230 kept getting a chekc engine light. Turns out cyclinder 3 was not working so he was running 3/4 cyclinders. cylinder 3 was leaking not holding pressure. There was a misfire misfired 130 / 150 cycles. Luckily when he purchased the car he had a CPO and was fixed.
Ok after all that...Iam really interested in buyign an 04 e55. The dealer (non Benz) says he will include an aftermarket warranty as part of the package I negotiated with him.
What has your experience been with aftermarket warranties? Would it cover any major issues?
Thanks again

Ours has 78,000 miles and IMO has had way too many visits to the dealer for repairs. Granted it still drives like a new car and if it weren't for the mileage you would not know it was 5 years old. But my Corvette has had way fewer trips to the dealer and our daughters Escort in 125,000 miles only had 1 warranty claim for $50. So the E series is $$ ,, drives nice but likes to spend time in the hanger a lot
, as we would say in the flying days.

Not to mention an I/C pump (which tends to fail). Keep in mind at least from MB, an AMG warranty is more $$. Also, serv. is required every 10K, compared to every 13K according to MB.
BUT, u drive an AMG, and I've been in 2, and there is nothing like it in the world. 469ish torque and 500ish hp if my memory serves correct. The #'s speak for themselves.
Best advice is search the W211 AMG section. And good luck. I envy you. As much as a hot rod my E500 is, the E55 will blow the doors off so many cars on the road, be emissions friendly, quiet, and look oh so good doing it. Not to mention the coveted MB AMG pedigree. Good luck!
I will say one thing, I have considered trading my E500 for a W210 AMG. The 210 does not have SBC, or the airmatic, so less complication. Just pure engine and traditional brakes/suspensoin. Plus 350ish hp, and 390ish torque I bel. But for 50hp & torque differential, I think I'll leave the hp game to my Supras
