Tired of the round/oval headlights?

Just wondering what people think of the W210/W211 front end look and if they are ready for change?

Do you think Mercedes has worn out this iconic look and need to change it with the W212? Will you miss that look?

Just curious of people's thoughts since it is almost certain the W212 will not have this...

The W211 front end still looks fresh, but to me the W210 looked very dated the day the W211 came out. The problem with abandoning the current oval headlights is that the S class, C class and E class will most likely have very similar front ends, so the E class will lose its distinctiveness. The W211 is unmistakably Mercedes, yet different from all the other Mercedes at the same time.

I think the W212 retains the 4-eye headlamp look, but the lamps will be more squarish in shape

To me the 210 and 211 look totally different. The 210 looks like frosted "bug eyes". The 211 is smooth and elegant.

'iconic'? hardly...
benzes had been rocking the square-ish headlights for a long time, the bug-eyed benzes were an anomaly, which is why it was such a big deal when the w210 first came out.
personally i think the rectangular lights are 'iconic' for mercedes, at least since the 60's, and i'm very happy mercedes is going back to this style, from the SL down to the C.

I agree - the square design has been around a long time - but the round headlamps changed the design of sedans in every market from a Kia to a Jaguar. I think all of these designs are a result of the W210 daring design change.

I think the spy pics of of the W212 show the ovals are gone. I love the front look of my car.

I love the W211 look too, but i thought the joined highbeam + lowbeam ovals on the CLK and SL look better.

The facelift of the W211 made an already excellent car even better.

Slightly off-topic (at least or this thread), I find the W211's strong stuit to be its interior. Since being intoduced, no other model has been able to come close to it.
