help! me and the dealer is stumped!!!
hey guys i have a problem that me or the dealer cant figure out.
my car is having a low speed surge and jolt(about 5mph) and i droped it off to the dealer thinking i was having the problem with coolant in the tranny like some of these cars have.
the car is a 03 e500 with 72k on it.
i took it in to have it diagnosed and it wasent showing any codes and the service tech cant seem to replicate the symptoms.
they tested the tranny fluid and passed for no coolant and every thing looked good.
so what can it be? the tech drove the car 5 times and he said it seemed fine and he was going to have a higher up tech go with him on another drive.
its stumping me and the dealer so is this just due to the cars age or what?
car has an aftermarket chrysler warranty and i have to pay for a rental and it has been there since monday but i droped it off late in the day so they dident get to it till tuesday.
i need your help guys and thanks.

I wouldn't classify 2003 with 70,xxx miles to be old. It could be dirty sensors, have the dealer dis-connect every sensor , clean them out without damaging them and re-connecting them.
it's the price u pay for having a benz and not having factory warranty.
but the problem and symptoms your having sound very complex and can end up being the start of a long and dreary, bank account draining, flip a coin ordeal of events.
my 2001 Lexus LS430 with 118,000 miles hasn't had a single glitch ever. Drives smooth as ever, tranny shifts as good as ever. I put gas in it and go. It's time for my 120,000 service but that's expected right ?
the sad part of all this is that I feel more secure and confident of a lexus with 100,000 miles than I do of a brand new mercedes with ZERO miles. It's sad.

uh for your information, an 07 would be at most a 1.5 years old right now. An 08 would be at most 7 months old right now. You think that's why the problems have not occurred yet ? hmmmmmmmm ya think just maybe it's too early to tell ?

If we all wanted to drive appliances we would all own a Lexus.

Nope its not too soon. My '04 was in the shop at 6 weeks and every 6 weeks thereafter for a week to 10 days. (I've driven more loaner cars than anyone on this Forum) The difference in the 2 cars is stunning. Look at the requests for help with weird problems on the forum now as compared to 3-5 years ago. There used to be a real air of desperation and frustration with the posts. The board is more of a social hall now. Even the problems with the '06s are minimal. Its all with the '03 to '05s... even though some of those owners are not being tortured. (I believe the problems in the early cars were fewer in cars that were bone stock or lightly optioned.)
There's no way I can convince you of this, so I'll leave it at this... I repeat... the 211 of '07 & onward is a superbly designed exciting, sporty, and safe high quality car. I'm glad I own one...
