iphone 3G with 08 E350

Having issues with the pairing results. Once the iphone 3g is paired (using the MB BT adapter) and all goes well with one exception. This exception is that the phone book appers on the command screen but every entry is doubled. Not only that, the doubling efffect also happens to teh iphone. Have tried it on 4 diferent 3G (16GB) iphones and all had the same result. Any help or advice would be greatly apprciated.
TIA.

Strange, cannot help but Euro MB BT users report no success with phone book download with the current SW version. It initially worked with the 2G iPhone but with the latest SW (equal to that of the 3G version), it stopped working.

I guess they consider it OK as the average is makes one for the average.

I have the first iPhone and it works great. What I find suspicious is the doubling of the phone book entries. I don't think the MB phone system downloads addresses to the phone, only the phone to the car.

I'd suggest clearing your iPhone and then re-syncing with iTunes. Let us know if it happens again after the iPhone clearing and re-syncing.

True, the phone entries at the phone should not get duplicated when connected to the car. Perhaps that was coming from some other use case.

The car downloads whatever is on the phone. If your addresses are doubled on the phone, then naturally they are going to be doubled on the car.

Have you found why your addresses are doubled on the phone? Is it iTunes? Is it two Exchange accounts on your phone? Is it an exchange and MobileMe account?

Fix the doubling on the phone and I suspect you'll fix the problem with the car's Bluetooth.

Just found this, looks like some others have found duplicate phone book entries too. But I understood this is at the car side, doesn't mention entries being duplicated at the phone (doesn't say the opposite either).

But the problem in this case is with the ViseeO device, the Euro MB HFP does not have this problem, it has a worse problem as it does not download the phone book at all.

Difficult to figure out but it looks like the current iPhone implementation confuses some of the car kits.

I have done all the suggsted, Cleared the iphone from all entries and synched (including Mobileme) and repaired the phones and still do get the same issues. The one thing that I noticed now is that after doing all of that and deleting some contacts from the phone, those deleted still appear on the screen in the car and they are no where on the phone, Outlook or mobileme. This is getting very confusing. I spoke to MB and they said the only way to reset the BT adapter and clear the paired devices is to keep pairing untill the device is gone from the list. Basicaly I need to pair 5 devices (other than the iphone) to clear the iphone out of its memory. I will be do doing that once I get a few other devices around to pair with it.

I have the new 3G in my 08 E550.

its not doubling the addresses you have listed.

Its listing all the phone numbers you have. It doesn't have a "submenu" for phone numbers.

John Smith - Home 361.555.1212
John Smith - Office 361.555.0001

It lists John Smith 2 times, because you have more than one number listed for John Smith.

Class dismissed.

I wish. No, it is doubling and this is the example:
John Smith - Home 361.555.1212
John Smith - Home 361.555.1212
John Smith - Office 361.555.0001
John Smith - Office 361.555.0001

On top of that, the delete function is highlighted on the command, press the button to delte the entry and the system says deleting and goes though its process and once completed the contact is not deleted.

Here is an exact way of what I did, I started fresh with a complete reset, synched the iphone for outlook contacts. Did not install mobileme and no other email accounts and synched again and every thing doubled on the screen and a side effect was that the phone entries on teh phone also doubled adn are saved into the iphone.

Cannot help with this but it really shouldn't even list John Smith two times (even if it is a common name ) but the different numbers only once the name is selected. Or are Comand phone books behaving differently, I'm referring to a W221. I've seen comments that the phone number type needs to follow those the MB system understands.

Every name is and number is twice. On the phone book entries I have several types of entries. Some that include the +for int'l dialing and some with 1 (area code) tele number and others with area code and numbers and all are duplicating. I have a couple more things to try and will see if any would work.
