2008 E320 Bluetec
I have a 2008 E320 Bluetec that lurches pretty severely when downshifting from third to second and from second to third. I've had the car back in to the dealer several times and they say they cannot fix it.
Is there a TSB available for this, or has anyone else had this problem?
Thanks in advance for any help, and please accept my apologies if I have violated any protocols.
Changing the C/S setting to C only removes the second to first transition... the third to second still exhibits the problem.
It is like downshifting with a manual transmission, and not matching the engine revs to the wheel speed.
S-B-27.00/105, "Harsh Activation of Torque Converter Lockup Clutch"
Solution is "flash and SCN code the transmission with SDS version 02/08 or later."
Others: this DTB only applies to diesels.
Another question:
Do you have any information on PB 27.00/107?
The service invoice for one of our services says "As per PB 27.00/107 flash IFI control module.
Some (3) of the other invoices say:
Perform ETC software update.
Flash ETC module and readapt shift parameters.
Updated software.
The factory rep, after a road test told us that this transmission operates the way the Germans want it.
Thanks again for your assistance.

Seems pretty straight forward to me then. Were you able to take your SIL's car to the dealer so they could ride in it? I would think your case would be quite strong if the dealer has undisputed proof in the form of your SIL's car and another one off the dealer's lot.
Oh, wait - did you mean that one of the dealer's cars acts the same as yours?

My son-in-law lives in North Carolina and the only information we have about that car is telephonic.
P-B-27.00/87b FEB07 Transmission flare between first and second gear or second and third gear when cold or from the first several shifts of the day – the CDI control module must be updated using Flashware CD 0054488540_001.
P-B-27.60/84a SEPT07 Transmission occasionally shifts too late or does not shift up. The cause of this shifting characteristic is that the engine has detected the need for a regeneration of the diesel particulate filter (necessary for emission control) for which higher engine speeds are required. Dealer will install optimized transmission software.
Bill bulletins above should not apply to your MY08, as you should already have this software nevertheless, request dealer confirmation. Furthermore, if they cannot repair the transmission to your satisfaction (i.e.: not resolved and witnessed by service personnel with test drive) request they contact WSG (MBUSA Warranty Service) and get an approval to replace the transmission. PM your email address and I will forward copies of all DTBs mentioned. BTW, if you need a MB datacard (i.e.: option/paint codes, production date, etc.) include your VIN. The following do apply to your vehicle:
S-B-27.00/104 APR08 Delayed acceleration (hesitation) may be caused by the transmission shifting down with a delay and the engine only delivering the required power after a delayed downshift when light pressure is applied to the accelerator at low speeds.
S-B-27.00/105 APR08 Harsh first to second gearshift may be caused by the torque converter lockup clutch.
-> Remedy for both (as Kent mentioned) flash and SCN code the transmission with SDS software version 02/08 or later.
P-B-27.00/107 MAY08 Uncomfortable shift quality 1-2, 2-3 and downshifts 3-2, 2-1 caused by variation in the engine/transmission interface resolved by flashing the engine control module.
